Default What do you use? 91octane V-Power or Sunoco Ultra 94

I live down the street from both a shell and sunoco (Which are both at the same intersection) and whenever theres a porsche day or ferrari day at mosport (yes, i live in bowmanville, just minutes from mosport ) all the cars go to shell even though sunoco has a higher octane fuel. How come?

What do you use? Any reason for it?

Thanks,
Jeff

Do a post search on this and prepare to spend the entire weekend reading the comments.
summary-

Shell uses no, plant based, additives. (corn)
Suncor gas stations list a "may contain up to 10% ethanol" ethanol=water
i'm not a scientist but ive been told.

Yeah, and after doing said research here, I switched to V-Power. I would love for the octane to be a bit higher though; I could swear that I hear some knocking when I let the revs drop leaving a corner.

On my first weekend at M'sport, I gassed up at Sunoco and talked to the attendant a bit. He told me that the P guys went to Sunoco but that the F guys went across the street to Shell. I' sure the Ferrari/Shell relationship has something to do with this but I also wonder if our V-Power might be inferior to the Euro V-Power, similar to what's going on with diesel.

i wonder if sunoco's 94 actually has any ethanol in it though? Being it's their high-line fuel and they advertise it all the time as being the best they might try to take more care in manufacturing it.... although we are talking about gas companies.... who am i kidding, they dont care

Yes it does. Check the pump next time you fill up.

Sunoco 94 is 15% ethanol, iirc. If you want more octane, fill up with Shell 91 and buy a bottle of octane at Canadian Tire. Best of both worlds.

do you have any proof that ultra-94 is 15% ethanol?? That just seems high. Not accusing you of lieing, just curious

No, I thought that was what the sticker on the pump said - may contain up to 15%. Could be wrong - haven't been to one in quite a while.
