Car has 92K...but I didn't own it from new...I've put 53K on it. From the symptoms, I think it's the pressure plate springs that let go: no slipping, but high and abrupt engagement with a soft pedal. When it happened, the clutch pedal seemed to stay on the floor for awhile. Tried not to pay too much attention to it since I was doing about 170 and focused more on keeping everything safe. In anycase, the whole thing will get replaced as part of a clutch kit.

Sorry to hear but that explains it. I was looking for you this aft to say hi. Walked around the parking lot at lunch, looking for a 4S with the number you gave, but couldn't find it. Pretty sure I had seen you in the am though.

Anyway, my first track day, and I'm sure that I could feel the rubber melting away... well, maybe not melting cause it was so cold, but peeling away for sure.

OK so, since I'm here: Last month I put a note on my UCR calendar about a "solo lapping day" on 28 June. Problem is I can't remember who's putting this on, so I don't know where to sign up. I went through the UCR web site but didn't find anything.

Anyone know what I'm talking about or did I dream this up?

If you guys don't know, I'll start a thread as we get closer.

Hey Phil I guess a 100K on a clutch is not to bad .. were you able to drive it back to the dealer or was it flatbed time ? I am sure you will be back on the road soon .. don't forget to ask for the parts so you can hang your cool Porsche parts on the wall .. great for stories when you tell your grand kids when it blew out on he back straight when you were trying to take the line away from Steve McQueen ..

Yes I was...it wasn't slipping at all, just not engaging properly (if that makes any sense). Drove back at 130-140 all the way with no problem, just had to be real gingerly with shifts. Yeah, blowing your clutch at high speed does sound more glamorous! I have to say that the clutch had started to feel heavier, but it is such a slow progressive deterioration that it's hard to notice. It only struck me after being away and not driving it for awhile.

Thanks webbie, that's where I saw it - so long ago that I forgot. I tried to find it again but on the regular calendar, not on the reg page.

Anyway, just signed up in case I forget again

Well if that's my only "incident" that I have on a track, I'm happy.
