Default Rotors and Pads...

... for my Jetta!

I'm going to be replacing my rotors and brake pads soon (whenever I put my summers back on) and have never bought either before. Obviously these aren't anything like those on a P-car, but could anybody here suggest where I start looking for parts? Brands/places to buy? I plan to do the work myself, so should I buy aftermarket or should I just go to VW for parts?

Thanks!

i'd add Benson's autoparts to that list.... decent prices and there may be a brick and mortar store near you.....

BTW, I bought $15 "white box" rear rotors for my 1.8T Jetta and they lasted 85-90% as long as the original OEM ones, despite mating it to some semi -metallic rear pads....

Thanks for the help guys!

What type of pads should I be looking at, and how does the choice of rotors affect the choice of pads? (metal vs semi-metallic vs ceramic vs... something else?)

What are "white box" rotors?

white box is akin to 'no name' brand.... a house brand, or the cheapest ones u can get at any particular store/chain

re: pads... I usually ask for something with low dust.... I have 17" OEM rims on my Jetta that i don't like cleaning..
