Urgent; insurance for importation/advice for payment method
 

Hi folks,

I am about to import a 914 from the US. I have tried several insurance compagnies and none of them is able to give me coverage as soon as the car gets across the border. They all have argued they required an appraisal prior to insuring the car. Do you know any broker who can provide such a coverage until I have the car appraised?
Moreover, the seller requires a money order or a certified check. Which is the easiest?
Does anybody know a good appraiser to come over (as maybe the car will not be properly insured).

I had no problem getting insurance in advance of appraisal my policy is from Intact (Formerly Ing) lots of brokers represent them. Mine is local montreal doubt you would want to deal with them.

If all else fails, rent a u-hail dolly trailer and trailer it back. No insurance needed.

I'm not sure of the state in question, but not all states allow any part of an uninsured/unlicensed car to touch the road, even if it's only the back wheels. Check this if you're considering the dolly route.

I don't think you can get it insured for road coverage and until it's saftied you won't get it. Until you get the foregoing add the car to home coverage as a chattel.
