Default Securing floor mats 996 - local solution?

So, the stock Porsche floor mat slides up like a lycra shirt on a fat dude.
Anyone have any good solutions for securing the mats to the floor? I was thinking about industrial velcro glued to the mat and carpet, but also read about tabs that get srewed into the floor/carpet? Is this something that local P-dealers would carry? (Out of town right now - otherwise I wouldn't be so lazy and would call them myself)

AND, any easy solutions for connectin an ipod? (my fathers C4S doesn't have a CD changer) - is this easy to do? Anyone wanna lend me a hand maybe this Thursday with it??

Thanks! Cheers.

My 996 came with what you describe; a 2-inch round flat head with velcro hook with a threaded shaft on the bottom that just screws right in to the carpet. Then there is a disk of the loop glued to the mat. I assumed it was a stock setup so would also assume that you can get it from the dealer.

Can't help you with the iPod for the 996, sorry.

what FFaust said regarding the threaded velcro disks. The cars come std with those when factory mats are ordered (yes mats are an option on a P-car). Call your dealer's parts dept, they should be able to help you out. The other option is Lloyd mats (they come with thier own securing system). No easy way to add ipod connectivity without changing out the system. On 2003+ cars, they use a fibre optic network (MOST) which makes the integration of ipod more limited requiring more of the OE system to be replaced with aftermarket.
FYI: I hardly turn on my sound system (Bose option) because it detracts from the sound of the Porsche sport exhaust. If your car doesn't have it, THAT"S what I would spend the money on rather than ipod interfaces.

True, I think I've listened to the radio for about 10 minutes in the car - and that with "only" the stock exhaust.
Was hoping it was a simple matter of an ipod cable plug in to the back of the radio (wishful thinking I guess).
Will drop by Pfaff next week to see if they have the disks that attach to the car.

Try Mercedes. They have a metal clip set that grabs the mat and pokes into the carpet. It's a bit crude but it works.

I picked up the little plastic velcro "pucks" from Pfaff - they charge for them now - but I did laugh when paying the bill as they were $4/ea - mentioned how it was probably the cheapest thing in the whole place - receptionist didn't laugh?

They screw in by hand into the carpet under the little velcro areas on the floormat - took all of 30 seconds. So far, works like a charm!

Sorry man, but don't even know what you are looking for.

Assuming the plastic rear seat release, and assuming for a 996, P/N is 996 521 421 00

Better yet, go here http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-parts/911.php pick a model, click on "Shop Hard Parts", choose a section, and when you find the illustration of what you are looking for, click on it and it will bring you to the P/N list.

I am looking for the clips, in relation to securing the floor mats... I couldn't find it in the catalog.

Ok, sorry I couldn't find that. From your post #9 above, it looked like you were looking for the "plastic rear seat pull". I'll keep looking a bit.
