I've fully insulated the garage, including the doors too after buying the hosue and without any heating, it never goes bellow +2C. Even on the coldest nights, it stays at least +2.

I got the heater today and of course had to test it right away. At start the temp in the garage was +3C, at 20 minutes it was 20C. Opened the big door to exhaust the fumes and after a few minutes closed it and with the heat off after 10 minutes it was still 15C. Works for me. Saturday is going to be a better test as it's going to be really cold overnight.

Now look what you've started. I've got the itch to heat the man cave. I've got two installers coming this week to quote me.

Going to go with direct vent, natural gas, radiant heater. Aside from working on the car in there, the garage is now my gym, so I need to get some good heat in there, pronto

The space is about 20' x 25'. I'm getting excited already. Now I just need a scissor lift for my poor knees.

Do you mean a direct vent tube heater? I've installed a couple of them and from what I remember they have to be installed a minimum 53 inches away from a vehicles roof to prevent damage to the paint.

I should have said infrared instead of radiant. but I mean something like this:

That is a tube heater. I'm more familiar with Schwank tube heaters. Just be careful, they can burn the paint if mounted too close.
Another option would be a Reznor unit heater. They can be direct vent as well.

I thought on this, the coldest day of the year, it might be a good test of the heater. I gave it a half hour and opened the big door to **cough cough* exhaust the fumes and within 5 minutes it was +15. Time to get the tank re-charged though as I'm seeing a noticeable drop in pressure and flame size.

Smart kid :-)

Timely thread.
Just nearing the completion of my garage and I've been wondering what I'm gonna do to get it nice and toasty.

Thanks all.
