This is not easy for dealer too. But think about all the history, records available on the car. Also with a red carpet service. Better resell value.... all this count.

I just moved a car in our lot, first thing I saw is "brake" in red- us car. That car can't even shut off when I took the key out.

We went on a P-car search when the dollar was at par the last time.

We were driving a Boxster (base), '05 that was a US car now registered in Canada.

The 4S that we liked in Toronto was 92,000. Not at a dealer, but a good aftermarket store we've bought at before.

In Buffalo we saw an equivalent car for $67,000 same year, same options. US$

In Atlanta we saw 2 equivalent cars several days later. $64 and $62

The clinker? Their wholesale (trade-in) price for the Boxster was $32,000 at the time; it had been $42,000 Cdn when we left. So with normal greed, we wanted to buy their car at their price, and trade in our car at our price....didn't happen. Dollar was at par when all this was happening.

Two weeks ago I drove back a 2005 997 C2 CPO car with 49K miles, recall letter in hand, well optioned including Xenons, heated seats, Nav for PCM, power/memory seats, Bose, CD changer... for US$39.5K from Texas Porsche dealer. Non CPO cars from private individuals can be found mid-30K's. Good luck finding any CPO 997 in Canada for under $60K.
