Hi -- In Ontario and due for emission test.
Should PSM be turned off during 996 C4S emission test ? Was wondering if there might be any damage if it was left on.
Thanks.

Your awd, so they only do a idle test and rev the engine to a certain rpm test.
Do not allow them to put it on a dyno or your car will require alot of $$ to fix it.

You need a 2 stage idle test. Do not do a drive test. Be sure to drive your car hard to warm it up before the test. A min of 20 min drive should do it and make sure the test center doesn't allow your engine to cool down.

The guys at the test centres I find are pretty good .. with the 2 stage idle it doesn't even check your cats so you should be fine .
If I remember correctly your Hydrocarbons readout should be N/A for the 2 stage idle test, and this is the check of your cats .. so looks like quite a few guys with C4S cars wil get lucky when it comes to bad cats ..
