Default Concours Aug 30th

My Neighbour is sponsoring this event. Just thought I would put out the word and see if anyone wants to show up. I will be there, it's up at Rolling Hills golf course. If anyone wants to join in, let me know, we can drive up there together in a caravan of Porsches.

I've gone every year lately, but this was a bit of a screw up on UCR's part, IMHO. It conflicts with the closing day of ALMS at Mosport, which I'm going to.

Is UCR even doing anything for this years ALMS?. I thought we had no Porscheplatz this year. (i guess they figured the RS spyders were the draw)

Yes, UCR is having a similar gathering for ALMS, they're just calling it Porsche Park instead. Here's the deets from the UCR site:

Your Porsche Park Ticket Includes:

• Four-day admission to the Mobil 1 Presents the Grand Prix of Mosport
• Access to a private tented area and parking for Friday to Sunday
• Tech talks; driver appearances and prizes exclusive to Porsche Park participants
• A chance to drive your Porsche around Mosport in a parade lap
• Sunday BBQ Lunch

All of this for just $100 per ticket. Act Now - Space is Limited

From what I've heard of previous Porscheplatz's, I don't really have any interest in being part of that. Apparently they were exceedingly rude to the Corvette guys in the neighbouring tent.

I was there with Greg pretty well the whole weekend and did not experience that. i am not saying it didn't . i am just not a big fan of heresay...

I am not sure I will be going this year with no Spyders and no Audi R series. I may just go to the concour instead and count on the rennlist boys to vote for me

The year before last they wouldn't let anyone look at the cars except from the fence. They even stopped a kid and his dad on bikes from stopping by.
(I didn't agree with it either)
By "they" I mean the folks running the show, not the owners of the cars.
I was frisked twice for my pass lol. I suppose I dress more like a corvette guy than a porsche guy.

Last year the vette guys moved, the year before they were beside us.
Last year I didn't notice anything like what took place the year before.

the Porsche tent is being run by Mosport this year...no affiliation to UCR or Porsche, just mentioned on the website and at tonight's social.
Porscheplatz in the past has been run by Porsche of Stuttgart and the security had specific instructions not to allow anyone without a pass to enter the tent or near the cars.
This years concours will have other exotics as well as Porsches. Although it is on the race day it still should be a great event. Plus if you enter your car you get 9holes of golf for free on the day.
there will be lots of free prizes and some vendors will be there.
There also is a backup day if it rains.
