Default car covers and the cottage....

Hey all,

There will be a few opportunities where I get to bring the Boxster S to the cottage....

I've gotten the 'premium' cover from CT. I wash the car before I leave home, and it's pretty clean if it's dry weather when I drive up. However, the actual cottage road is chip/tar (with more chip/gravel right now). There was also some construction I went through on the way up....

I had put the car cover on the car, and realized that the fine layer of dust probably wasn't a good idea.

The next day, I bought a california duster and some Meguairs Ultimate Detailer and a small supply of MF clothes. I was able to dust the off the back of the car, and did the spray detail for the whole vehicle....

Finish looks pretty good, I was lucky and only got very minor scratching with the car cover.

The car cover is necessary, cause the entire driveway at the cottage is under a tree canopy, and the pine sap is nasty.

How's Optimum No-Rinse?

If you want all kinds of details from pro-detailers, this is the place to go:
www.autopia.org

I would never touch the car with any dirt or dust, without water and car detergent first.

The moment you touch dirt on your car, you are micro scratching. It is
easily visible as spiral like scratches, speacially if you look at it under the Sun.

The cover sounds like the right idea.

I don't drive the Targa to my cottage for the same reasons - too much gunk would fall on the car. I was considering putting up one of those temporary garages that Cdn Tire sells for the summer (I have a good spot where it would be inconspicuous) ... wouldn't have to worry about a car cover that way.

Optimum No-Rinse is a great product imo.
