Okay so my wife and I are headed for NS this summer. What do we have to do, where do we have to go, and I'd appreciate any tips for B&B's and golf courses too! Thanks!

I took the family there 2 summers ago...great time. go to pier 21, Canada's immigration version of Coney Island...very cool.
go to Peggys cove, eat lobster. we went on frog tour (amphibious vehicle), rented cottage in Tatamagouche (north shore of island , warmest water) we wanted to go over bridge but didn't. we flew Porter (great flight) but should've brought the Porsche, great open roads, we also didn't go to Cape Breton but will next time need a few days. you will enjoy it, very nice scenery and people.

I grew up in Halifax.
If you are taking the car, then a trip around the Cabot Trail would be a nice drive.
Go check out Peggy's Cove. Take the back way out, not the highway, it's nice and twisty.
I used to take that drive to evaluate suspension tweaks.
There are all kinds of nice coastal drives that you can enjoy.
The Maritime Museum in Halifax had a nice thing on the Titanic a few years back.
As mentioned, Pier 21 is cool as well.
Citadel hill is an interesting spot too.
There are some great places to eat as well.
I'm no golfer, but Dundee in Cape Breton is highly rated and Highland Links is the East end of the Cabot Trail and boasts wonderful scenery. The other end of the trail is in Baddeck where you will find the Bell Bay course and the Alexander Graham Bell Museum.

Thanks fellers. Unfortunately Alberta's a long way away and the 996 has to stay home but I have to be out there for another thing and since my wife and I have never been, we need to take this opportunity.

+1 Even if you aren't taking the car - try to do the Cabot Trail.

I spent the first 20 years of my life in Weymouth not too far from Digby where the New Brunswick - Nova Scotia ferry arrives.

If you don't have time to do the cabot trail I would recommend the evangeline trail.

The highland links is in cape breton , around the cabot trail up towards the top by ingonish beach. About a 5 hour drive from halifax. There are many places to stay in cape breton, especially around the cabot trail. Plan on at least 2 days to drive this trail and see what there is to see.
Also, the south shore has some really nice sites, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay area.
The annapolis valley is another nice area to visit. These are about 1.5 hours from halifax, nice day trips. For cape breton places, go to www.capebretonresorts.com and it lists all the places to stay on the cabot trail.

Leave the car at home and go green. Do the whole thing on a bicycle. That is what I did and it was a blast. You'll never forget it. You'll come back lighter and travel faster the next time you use your Porsche or the bicycle. :-) Glenn

Thanks guys. We've only got a week so I'm sure we'll miss some things but a couple of rounds of golf, Some touristy stuff like Lunenburg and Peggy's cove, a B&B (since my wife loves them) or two and we should get the flavour of the place!

Have some clam chowder at Salty's by the sea in Halifax, and don't forget dinner at The Five Fisherman. The seafood is awesome in Halifax.

Yes, the Five Fisherman is a great place to eat.
Another great seafood place is McKelvies

Eeeexcellent! I vacation on my stomach and these places look great! Can anyone comment on the Bluenose Golf Club in Lunenburg? I'd like to combine my sight seeing with golfing.

If golfing is what you're looking for then take a side trip to PEI. It's about a 4 hr drive to Charlottetown from Halifax or the same time if you choose to take the ferry from Pictou/Caribou. Crowbush and Dundarave are both top courses in Score Golf's Top 100.
