Default Airbag light

Hopped in the car yesterday and the airbag light came on solid and stayed on. Was hoping that the little 'reset fairies' might have stopped by last night, but sadly no....light is still on today. Anyone got a reader that can reset it before I head over to Mantis ??

Adriano you finally come out of hiding ? The snow must have all melted.

There is no real danger with your seat belt light other than the system is non functional. There are two failures for this I see quite often.

The sensor on the front of the car, not really much you can do , and belive it or not the seat belt buckle. This is tied into the airbag system so make sure all is well there.

According to Porsche (Pfaff) the airbag will still deploy in case of a collision.

The air bag light (in this case) is typically only an indication of an intermittent
connection on the seat belt buckle (a micro-switch). As you already know,
this is very common on 996s.

well sounds like someone will be ordering a buckle .. interesting though .. if it will still deploy why the light ? I always thought it would NOT deploy if it sensed a seat belt buckle issue as air bags can actually cause more damage if you are not buckled in ( like smash your nogin against a hard bit ) but there ya go , I guess you learn soemthing every day ..

Adriano make sure you bring the boss in her car too

You need to find someone with a Durametric scan tool or the Porsche System Scan tool to reset the airbag light. Unfortunately normal run of the mill OBD I/II system scanners can't reset the light. These scanners will also give you the code indicating where the fault is. If the fault still exists the light will come back on.
