Default Good mechanic

I'm looking to get some work done on my '05 CayenneS, who would you guys recommend. I'm looking to avoid a trip to the dealer. Everywhere I've searched has turned up either Mantis or EU auto.

Thanks
Andy

I highly recommend Franzl at Auto Select in Newmarket. He is extremely well regarded in the Porsche community and has done fabulous work for me. He used to be the head mechanic at Pfaff and has been running his own Porsche repair shop for God know how long. He is reasonable and excellent.

No affiliation. Just a very happy customer.

And I have been very pleased over the last couple of years with Bestline Auto Tech:

Big fan of Courtney @ Autowerks. Great workmanship and customer experience at a reasonable price, tough to beat that combo.

Thanks, I'll give these people a call. I usually attempt to do things myself, but it's nice to have someone lined up if I can't.

Thanks
Andy

I'll recommend someone as soon as I get my car back if they can fix it.

I am a new to the Porsche family and was bit intimidated by the prospective of expensive maintenance and repairs. I went to see Courtney at EU and was extremely happy. He and his staff were very clear and specific about work that I had asked to be done and were forthcoming with advice and suggestions. As well, they were substantially lower priced than Pfaff or DFC.

Highly recommended!

Chris,
Welcome to the Canuck forum! Yeah the indies are way cheaper than the dealers. Don't worry about the costs of maintenance; my last service consisted of 2 air filters (engine and cabin) for a total of $100. The rest for this year include: oil & filter service $225, brake fluid flush $140 and here's the killer: wiper blades $65! These are great cars and very reliable. Tires get expensive, but that's the nature of the beast.
I'll add Brent Hunter at Hunter Motorsport in Mississauga. Good guy. I've used Mantis, Hunter and Autowerks and I have nothing but praise for those shops; top notch!

Thanks Phil. I knew it with my PPI so it wasn't surprise ... but my first service was for a clutch replacement ... so that was the price shock!

I am go to try to make it out to a GTG in the spring ... we have a new baby at home and the wife isn't too happy when if I disappear for the better part of a Saturday!

I bought it with 92000 k's in July, now has 106000 k's on it. No warranty, but so far has been a great vehicle to drive. It's a bit of a step up from th '99 explorer I had with 300000 k's on it. Although I am hoping for the same reliability as the explorer. I picked up a set of manuals and a Durametric cable for it and both have been a great help, as is this board. Thanks for the suggestions and I'll post pics soon.

Thanks
Andy

How are Autowerks with regards to 944 turbos? specifically cars with a MAF and APE chip. I'm looking having my leaky radiator changed for example. Have you guys heard of Keltech Performance in Mississauga? I've been going there the last few times.

I believe Courtney from Autowerks drives a 951.

I have talked to Keltech's owner over the phone for quotes, and he was very helpful. But I haven't used them before. There's also Hunter Motorsport, Refined Motorsport, and Mantis Racing out in the West end.
