Special Edition Cayman S.
Porsche usually do this the last year before the model undergoes a major change. Helps clean out the part bins.

There will probably never be an RS.

there's a similar version of the boxster: http://www.porsche-report.com/2008/0...ign-edition-2/

I wonder how much they'll charge for those measly 8 extra ponies. Sorry but that's no RS...just a special marketing push to revive slow sales.

I think Jumper is right. This is more likely a special edition than an RS.

It doesn't appear to be the Cayman S Sport they recently announced. It does share paint work and the PCCBs but the diffusers and spoilers are clearly different. The suspension also appears (at least to me) more aggressive than the S Sport.

I hate the use of RS, RS60, and the rest of the special edition stuff. I think they are cheapening the history.

I can't say I hate the use of RS so long as they're built accordingly. The RS60 is a joke compared to what it's supposed inspiration is (the Type 718 RS).

I think introducing a Cayman RS, as unlikely as it may be would be great if it were really an RS i.e. devoid of any unnecessary items that add weight etc.

Neither the Cayman nor the Boxster will be allowed to challenge the 911. Street or racing. That's it. Neither the R8/R10 for that matter now that Porsche own VW/Audi...

Actually Audi's will be raced in the GT3 class and I bet they will be able to keep up to the F-Cars unlike the 911's.

Hopefully when Audi kicks butt, Porsche may start thinking of racing their mid engine model.

Here's more fuel to the fire:

http://globalmotors.net/porsche-caym...-in-the-works/

It has bolted on fender arches, maybe in the future they'll have a widebody model like the Carreras.

I think you're right... Porsche will never allow that to happen. In RS form the Cayman would be even lighter and stiffer than it is in its present form, even without a HP bump it would most likely challenge the GT3 and other P-car models in performance.
