Can an Energy Drink make you a better Track Driver?
I just wanted to share this experience with you (warning long winded writeup in progress) .... during the winter a friend of mine mentioned that the Grand Am racing teams have been downing energy drinks at Daytona to maintain physical and mental performance not only for the drivers but for the crews members as well. Even during the Rolex telicasts I've hear the drivers mention drinking Glycomax before and after their driving stints, so last thursday night after a hard days work I decided to try some Cytomax (same as Glocomax) during practice and qualfying for my kart race and to my surprise after the nights racing I felt great... not high or bouncing off the walls but some what renewed and mentally sharp and the good thing was that there was no sudden dump after the effects wore off like other energy drinks.
Remember I'm sharing here... I'm certainly not telling anyone to go out and do the same but if you are getting tired during DE or lapping days being physically and mentally fresh could help you from making costly mistakes. I do suggest that you try any of these energy drinks in a more controlled setting to see what effects it has on you body before using it in potentially dangerous situation like track driving.
End of sharing... .
I do hope that this helps someone out!

Energy drinks at track days just make me need to pee more I sweat like a pig when I'm driving, so I do find I need to drink a fair amount, but I can't say I've noticed any more alertness or anything.
You know what made me feel much better yesterday afternoon? A little catnap in a lawn chair, in the shade, around 3pm! Just a short 20 minute nap, but man, what a difference!

I drank a Red Bull in the morning on Sat and Sun before racing last weekend. It helps. But only one and not that Monster stuff which has way more Guarana, which is the stuff that makes you crash after.

You can buy Cytomax at any GNC store, no affiliation. It comes in both ready to drink bottles and powder form that you mix with water. The GNC at the Mall at McCown and Finch in Scarborough carries the single serving ready to drink bottles for $4 each.
