I know it’s a long shot but maybe it’s worth it. I’m after an engine for my project car. It’s a ’99 Mazda 626, 4cyl, 2.0L with a manual transmission. Mileage is not that important as long as the engine runs good and is not smoking. Most of the local junkyards are asking around $600-$1000 and that’s a little too steep for me. So the cheaper the better. Also, does anyone know what the difference is between the automatic and manual transmission engine block. Aberrantly there is a difference as it clearly asks for it at car-part.com but I don’t know what it is. Automatic engines are dime a dozen and cheap too, but manuals are hard to find.

what's your fax number, I'll pull up the relevant manual sections and send em over to ya
can't help you on sourcing the block unfortunately, we get our stuff from the same JDM engine places/dismantles as you guys.

Omar,
Thanks for the offer I'll post my faxt once I'm in the office on Wednesday. Managed to findout the difference from one of the trusted junk yards and also got a confirmation from another Mazda expert. Apperantly the only difference between the two engines (auto and manual) is the upper oil pan block (aka main girdle). Once I swap this, the auto engine will bolt up straight to the manual transmission.
