Default Daytime running lights 993 DIY

I live in Thunder Bay where we have a shortage of p-car mechanics so I decided to do this myself.
With the over the phone help of a more knowledgeable person here is what was done.

Parts;
1. Blade fuse holder, from electronics store, Source (Radio Shack) has little to offer
2. Blade fuse 15A
3. Male spade lugs, buy an extra in case one gets messed up.
4. Heat shrink 2" worth

Procedure;
1. Remove Relay R31 and save for the next non Canadian buyer.
2. Cut leads on fuse holder to proper length 2", cut heat shrink in half 1" and slip on before crimping lugs.
3. Crimp spade lugs
4. Slip heat shrink over lugs and heat with match, careful not to touch.
5. Install jumper in slots #30 and #87 on R31 base.
6. Bend jumper to allow cover to clear

All done, the hear shrink is an option and not a necessity.

Enjoy your Canadian legal car.

Thanks, love to but something tells me I am better off flying to go your way and keep my driving adventures to the good old US of A.

well if it had been a US car like mine, it would have been a 5 min job to remove the jumper mod for the running lights. On a CDN car, it's probably a bit more work and I guess it would involve swapping out a relay of some sort. Don't think any techs would be able to legally help you remove a federally mandated safety feature.
My $.02: seems like a lot of work to remove a feature that is quite needed in our cars; we're small enough in the sea of SUVs and minivans that any additional visibility can't hurt imho.

Never had a problem with my other cars. I like to have the option to turn it on in the day when visibility is minimal. Kind of a waste on the life span of a Xeon bulb to have it on all the time even on sunny days, just doesn't make sense.
