Default Help finding specialty socket

I'm refinishing my BBS sport classics and am looking for a triple square attachment for a socket. Think a torx with 12 points. I suspect snap on would have it, but I tried CT last night - no luck. Would Sears or someplace else in the east end have it? Would ideally like to buy it today so I can get started - I know I can find it online. Thanks for any help.

I hate to suggest it because quality might not be the best but you could try Princess Auto ..

I thought of that. I've never been to PA, but I do get their flyers. I guess if I considered CT, I should consider Princess. They're not too far from me, maybe I'll use the run as an excuse to stretch the girls legs.

I know there is a PA on Dixi...right at the end of the runways. If you never been to one....bring your walet, you'll love it! Are you after a 12 sided socket or a torx socket?

Last time I spoke to guy with the Snap-On truck, Snap-On tripple square socket is about $37Ca each .

I have a Genius 5 piece Triple Square Head Socket Set (Part# TM-305) that I purchased from Rennbay.com for $28US, they have worked out very well so far.
http://www.rennbay.com/triple-square...set-p-120.html
When they arrived I noticed that the manufacturer label read "Genius Tools International Ltd. Missississauga Ontario Canada" may be you could look 'em up and source them locally.

Canadian Tire also carry the Powerbuilt 4 piece Internal Wrench Set #648599, contains 6mm, 8mm, 10mm 12mm Tripple Square tools. Canadian Tire part#25-3224-2, price $11.99CA. These are not sockets but I have had good luck using them in combination with a wrench or socket wrench.

I don't see why Princess Auto sockets would be any worse than anyone else's. It was the only place I could find a 36mm socket for my transmission shaft.

Because of the quality. Many of their tools are ok for occasional use and that's fine, as long as you know that.

I have a collection of large sockets too. 24mm - 34mm. Those seem to be tought.

OK - just got back from Canadian Tire, Princess Auto and Napa. Napa had it, nobody else did. Have to say I spent some money in Princess - its like a garage sale for men. You could spend a fortune on stuff you'd probably never use, but buy because it looked cool and was a good deal. Anyway - thanks for the help. I'm going to buy the set on eBay also so I have more than just the 8mm.

The key to PA is to pace youself.... go often and try to only look at what's in sale! Sooner or later everythimg goes on sale there.

I have to second the Parts Source recommendation. I am doing rear wheel bearing on the 944S2 this weekend. Requires a 32mm impact socket. CT doesn't carry anything bigger than 27mm in impact sockets.

Parts Source (owned by CT) had one and lots of other big beefy stuff - even 1 inch rachets and sockets.

As CT goes more "house and home" and less Tools and Garage - PS seems to be picking up the slack. I think it'll take some time for the hardcore tools orientation brand equity to shift over to PS. But I'll be heading to PS before CT for my tools from now on.

Your local Part Source is clearly better than mine. The one near me is a complete joke. When I was looking for the 36mm socket I tried there - they had a couple small basic sets, all imperial, up to maybe 1" or so. The people that staff it are absolutely brain dead. They inevitably ask what kind of car it's for and as soon as I say Porsche they say 'oh, we don't carry that', as if a metric socket is something from Mars. Forget looking anything up, because they can't do anything without their catalogue, which of course doesn't have Porsche in it. Completely useless.

Well, THAT'LL slow any brand building!

Maybe it's very location specific. The one I had luck at wasn't quite my local one - it was the Midland and Lawrence location. Seemed to have okay staff and a good selection of big tools.

Clearly - YMMV.
