OK guys. I have another one to add to the list.

The Hull Group
Julian Bugeja
416-865-0131

1987 911 Cab 71K
Appraised Value: 28K tax in (Bruce was here last week so it's up to date - it includes extra for the stereo)
Insurer: Royal & SunAlliance
Classic Car Program (19A with no listed restrictions but implied occasion use)
$1M liability, 500 comp, 500 collison
Includes temp replacement (hahaha)
Scarborough resident (this really spikes the rate)
Clean record & 50 something
Annual Premium: $1188

I will be receiving the fine print Monday & will report any anomalies. Vicky quoted $1824 & $1952 for similar with $1M, 500, 1000

Ian

edit: And I dang near forgot . . . Julian proudly owns a 2001 Boxster S - just got it in the fall

Wow, that's a good price. Just wondering if the price quoted by Julian was your actual driving year (seven months and storing for 5), or was that for the full year and you will be paying even less. than the $1,188. My quote was also in the $1,800.00 range, but when I remove the insurance for the winter months, the amortized rate will be around your quoted price.

Yeah. The fine print will tell all. But Julian assured me that there were no restrictions that I needed to know about. Bruce Farrow gave me his name. He also sells Chubb but they want your house etc.

Pricewise, with storage, it works out fairly similar. I know the next question from someone will be track & insurance, but I didn't ask. I will. And I'll also spike Julian to this thread since he's a Porsche guy anyway.

thats good info for a modified car . For a non modified or slightly modified i.e. read UPDATED, rims tires, suspension, etc. the Lant silver wheels program is very good. I have used it for years and have been very happy, example $6,500 appraisal is $163 per year full coverage, no millage restrictions. Only restrictions are, not to use it for work or daily retail therapy i.e. shopping. But if you stop while your out ofr pleasure drive that is OK!;-)

Also do you track the car at any time? and did your insurance company knows this when you go the coverage? that is a big concern with a lot of companies.

Again thanks for the info!

Woohoo! Finally got my 19A too! Justin, thanks a ton for posting Vicky's info - she's been great in getting this set up! We transferred our house over too, so it's all on the same policy, and the new car (once we get rid of the Pig Explorer) will go on there as well. Prices are similar to what I was paying Economical without the 19A, house insurance went down about $13/month. Not a big deal, but hey, better than an increase! It's through Gore Mutual.

Now I just have to get the car back on the road...

My details:
  • '78 911 targa with mods professionally appraised at $24K
  • $1,000 deductible for collision
  • $500 deductible for comprehensive
  • O6A insurance rating (this is the highest rating awarded for no tickets or accidents in the last 6 years)
  • $1M liability
  • basic accident benefits
  • 0 deductible direct compensation property damage
  • family protection endorsement (don't know what that is)
  • No limitation to km or driving
  • Insured with Gore Mutual Insurance Co
The annual premium if I drove the car all year would be $1,928.00
The annual premium I will pay based on driving 7 months and storing 5 is about $1,300.00

Notes from my broker:
  1. There are no restrictions on the 19A. The company will honour the value of the vehicle on the appraisal. No limitation to km or driving. The only thing a company would ask is for an updated appraisal probably about every 3 years.
  2. The premium can be further reduced, by increasing the deductible.
  3. The company my agent chose for my situation is the Gore Mutual Insurance Co. (this would vary from client to client as everyone's situation is different).
  4. Basic accident benefits, if you are interested is a mandatory part of the policy all Ontario drivers have included in their insurance policies. It is the portion of the policy that pays for injury, time missed off work, rehab, medical, etc.

Some variables that will effect each individual:
At fault accidents
Driving record (recent tickets)
Number of claims

The woman I dealt with was excellent (no affiliation, just someone I found that has a brain):
Vicky Gallagher, R.I.B. (Ont.)
Private Client Services
Pearson Dunn Brokers
1-800-461-5087

If you talk to her, mention that you got her name from me (Justin). I got her permission to post her information and she will understand why you are calling.

Hope this is helpful.
Your car is absolutely gorgeous. Please tell me where I can find more pics

BTW, I also have a 19A through Chubb (for my Testarossa). PM me if anybody wants contact info of my broker.

It's an '89. Blu Sera. Here's a link to a photo shoot by Lucas last summer: http://supercarfreak.net/gallery/album644

Would love to get him to shoot both our cars at once sometime- that would be a sweet pic!

I want to revive this thread. What is the latest news re: 19A or Silver Wheels policies?
I keep hearing about super cheap "classic" insurance policies and want to get in on it if possible.
Anything new out there?

Default Confused

im a little confused here...

I know Lant Silver wheels has a tonne of restrictions.

Specifically in writing...

Must be x years or older

No malls, groceries or driving to work.

God forbid you hit or get hit in Loblaws Parking lot.

So a 19A is a policy that has no destination restrictions?

What's the catch?

(track use restriction is a given)
