I always think that a scissor jack wouldn't allow enough access. Where do you position the lift points? On the 4 tub corners? Can you slide it in deep enough to get it into position? I don't know . . . I'm just thinking out loud . . .

This photo might answer some of your questions.
I looked hard to find a lift that would allow me to drive over it. I had to make a couple of minor mods.
It has worked perfectly, allowing enough access to drop the engine and trans - In fact I just lowered the car near to the ground, cradled the engine/trans on a jack, removed the final 4 bolts, and raised the car up off the engine/trans.
I have even wheeled the lift out into the driveway and used it outside (although that makes the neighbours a little uneasy.
I agree a 2 post is better, if you have the space, but in the 3-4 years I have had this, I haven't regretted the purchase.

I bought the ADG lift last year and it is EXCELLENT. I did my clutch and it didn't get in the way. At the top of the lift my car is 6" from the ceiling. I use it all the time because I can. I had some clearance problems driving over it so I nailed two pairs of 2 x 8s together on 6 x 3/4 boards and that gets me high enough for clearance. One of my better purchases.
