Default Speeding Tickets

I just got one.
I was going to Ottawa, and got a 15 Km over. $50.00.

If I want to fight it, gas alone will cost me more, because it was close to
Brockville, and I live in Mississauga- over 240 Km from here.

Were you on the 401? They nailed you at 115? That's ridiculous. Must have been a slow day and a quota to fill. Or were you going faster, and they only wrote you up at 115?

I just did that stretch at 135. That is odd that you pinched you at that speed. There are a lot of people going much much faster. I saw a few people pulled over. One was actually near brockville at around 7pm on Friday. Was that you?

A lot of info in here about fighting a ticket in Ontario. Good reading.

Yeah tons of them on the 400 series highways in the last couple of days...did they stop you for going faster and reduced it to 15 over? Then that's a nice break, but If they actually clocked and stopped you for only 15 over, then they're just being d!ckheads.

One MUST fight every single ticket, hopefully they will drop it. You insurance co count tickets, they don't care about points. Hire some ticket fighters to do it for you. Good luck.

Getting ticketed for 15 over is a CRIME.

15 kilometers/hr that's like 2mph right?????

RCMP blows...

I remember telling how I was caught doing 140 between TO and Montreal and all the Americans were astonished that I could do that in a Renault....(MANY YEARS AGO BTW!)

Cop said he clocked me at 135, and reduced it to 115.
I am still debating on fighting it. It is quite far, and just gas alone
will cost more than the ticket. It will also screw
my whole day, time wise.

it might be worth it depending on how much your premium will jump. another 30$ a month in premium jump over two years (the amount of time insurence companies see a minor ticket when they run your abstract) is 720$.

you should be able to call a ticket fighter local to the area and send him on your behalf.

and my condolences for being the recipient of such a useless ticket.

That's what I thought. I got one almost 2 years ago (when I first got the p-car) at 137kph and he reduced it to 115kph/no points/$50. My record is spotless and that was the only ticket in over 6 years (which was also a no pointer)...spoke to my insurance agent and he said that I'd have to get 3 tickets in quick succession before they would re-evaluate my rates. I paid it.

Pay it and move on . There is a box on your ticket where the officer wote " r" under special codes, this means reduced. Webbie is right , points mean nothing, POINTTS will do little for you as it has already been reduced. If it is your first in a while just slow down and be more crefull. This one is not worth fighting.

I'd fight it. My record was perfect until 2004.

I was in 2 accidents in 9 months. I slid into someone in Stayner, then I got rear ended 8 months later.

2005 I got my first speeding ticket in 18 years. I hired Pointts to fight it.

Fall 2006 I was in another accident.

Pointts ( Now called HELP) beat the speeding ticket.

Luckily my insurance rates didn't go up.

If I would have just paid the ticket who knows what would have happened to my rates.

Last I spoke with POINTS they wanted $300.00 to fight a ticket for a friend of mine.
