Default Daytime running lights - question

My car has litronic headlights that come on when I start the car, even with the headlight switch in the off position. The headlight assembly has the 5w halogen parking lights that I assume should be the used as the DRL but they never come on. ( not even as parking lights)
Any ideas on what to check to get the sequence right so the 5w lamps to turn on as the DRL and the main headlights don't?

Thanks

The litronics are your DTRL's, the small 5 w bulb as far as i remember are the park light bulbs and should luminate if the lights are left on and the key is removed>

we have seen in the past that they tend to burn out, so they may be blown and tat is why they dot work.

i will call our service dept and find out

if they dont come on when you turn on your car, then thye are burnt out.

they should be on with the daytime running lights.

Pfaff, thanks for checking i will check the bulbs this weekend and hope they are burned out ( seems odd both would be) .. if they are i will replace them
I think I will pull the DLR relay and manually turn on the lights ...

Iceman, Yes it is a Canadian car C36 option ...

Hello all! I am a newbie and just imported my first 987S from the States.

Question: how much should I pay to "activate" the DRL? I have been quoted quite a obscene amount which I think is unreasonable. It should really be a job that can be accomplished in a few minutes, no?

Bighead, i think if you search the main forum you will find a "hack" that uses a jumper wire in the fuse panel to get the headlights to come on with the ignition ..

GNR996, i did look at the bulbs, the filament was in place, but i didn't put a meter on them to check continuity, that is tomorrows project .....

Hi Wxseed: I did see that post but not sure if that's applicable for a '06. I thought that the DRLs are enabled through the Porsche PIWIS tester. If so, can someone recommend a "friendly" shop in the GTA who will do this for a reasonable amount of $?

I understand that this issue must be discussed to death here but I am still feeling my way around this board...

I have heard Mantis does the DRL. or you could try Aurowerks. they should be able to do this.
btw Bighead, new members are required to post pictures of their ride!

Bighead, I seem to remember reading a post that on a 997 you can enable the DLR with the on board computer, you don't need a dealer to do it. try the 997 forum and search there.
For what it's worth, I know on my MDX i can change the light set up with the computer/navi screen, might be a standard thing these days ...
