Default chains in BC

when and where is it legal to use chains in BC? when it's posted - sure, but if it's a side road, on city roads covered with snow or ice, etc. The information listed in government pages is rather vague.

I don't believe there is a rule. Yes there are signs on hwy's and such where they suggest you use winter rubber or chains to continue on the road. Even having areas for chain ups.

But in terms of just your local roads, if the roads bad enough that you need chains, then use them.

I've never seen an issue with them. I use to use them for the hell of it during some bad snow times.
