Default Canadian market values?

I bought a 997 GT3 in Canada last year and given the strength of the C$, as well as the fact that Porsche has reduced the MSRP on '08 models, I was just wondering what has happened to Canadian market values for used Porsches. How much of a loss have one-year old 997s taken?

Was thinking about selling the GT3, but if the market value is too low I won't do it.

I think you will have taken a serious hit. I don't have specifics but many buyers are heading South to buy, which means yours may be hader to sell , there fore lower rice to move it ..

pure speculation however.

Find out what the Canadian whole sale price is for that car. (Ie go to a dealer and find out what they are willing to give you). Add 10% and I think you will have an idea what it is going for... Just my opinion.

Now, if you find the 'right' buyer, then you will obviously fare better

GT3 is completely sold out in Canada so that will always boost up market value. All these people who are bringing up US cars are actually hurting the value of all Porsche vehicles but on a car like that, its more unique because of how rare it is. One thing that will hurt you right now is that its the beginning of winter so someone buying it will need to store it for 5 months before being able to enjoy it.

That's what winter tires are for

A GT3 would be a toboggan in the snow even with winter shoes.

I would drive it once in a while in the winter if it had undercoating. The corrosion warranty is only 4yrs on the GT3 so owners need to be extra careful of salt. I really enjoyed driving the twin turbo around downtown on the -20C nights and will miss driving the GT3 for four months

As for the question of the GT3 value, I don't think we'll know until the sun shines next year in the spring/summer timeframe, but I do expect to take a serious bath on this car, above and beyond the regular depreciation that modern p-car owners have become used to. Fortunately, there is no other car I'd rather lose money on than this one, the sound at 8,000rpm is mind-blowing!
