The link has hit max bandwidth so I can't read it... but perhaps this guy is trying a simple version of the adiabatic engine that Smokey Yunik had a patent on... rumours are the patent has expired and some company called Porsche is trying to build an adiabatic engine tat doesn't emit to much NOx.
Also, it is more common then you think to try to re-circulate your exhaust gases to try achieve much higher fuel efficiency...
