Default A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to LA . . .

Tuesday morning I arrived at the Air Canada gate for a flight to LA (after my ritual expresso & Globe & Mail in the AC lounge). I was calmly reading my book waiting for boarding & I looked up as someone sat across from me.

We both recognized each other simultaneously. It was Clive (iceman) also on his way to LA. We didn't sit together since we both had poor man's business class (a vacant middle seat in coach).

After landing, I offered to give Clive a lift to Pelican Parts since it was on my way & he had time to kill. Pretty cool coincidence.

And for the record, I saw at least 6 older Porsches in the short drive to & from Long Beach. Mostly longhoods too.

And I should have mentioned that we did drive to Pelican TOP DOWN in my rental Solera. Peppy car btw, but a serious hazard with the top up - very, very bad blind spot. I almost smeared a car on Lincoln Blvd in Marina del Ray late last nite on the way to my hotel.

And Pelican is only 15 minutes from LAX if you are in the area.

Clive doesn't get back until Fri nite & then he said he has to drive to Nottawasaga so he will miss another GTG. With the weather, he might not be the only one.

Yeah, well while you guys are off galivanting in the tropics, it freakin' SNOWED here today!

Maybe our next GTG should be at Pelican...

Did you get to see Wayne's new 959? That'd be worth the trip itself!

Did you not see it? It was snowing like crazy for a while this afternoon! But no, no accumulation. Well, there was a little bit on the grass, but nothing on the pavement, and it was gone from the grass by dinner.

And yep, the 944's coming out pretty soon. I was hoping to get her out this week and take it to the track this weekend, but no such luck (or time).

When I landed in Toronto today, it was snowing. Welcome to Toronto. And the de-icers are waiting.

Snow!? Nothing but rain here in Vancouver this week. My car is waiting for me at T1 when I get back tomorrow and I guess I'll run home and bolt on the snow tires...oh crap!

I wasn't planning to go to Pelican. It was a spur of the moment decision by iceman because his boss wasn't arriving for 2 hrs so I was just the willing taxi. He came up with a wish list on the plane. I buggered off south to Long Beach & he cabbed back to LAX for the meet. I didn't even go in the door.

I don't usually go to LA anymore but I had to do a presentation. I usually haunt the southeast US - AL, GA, TN, NC, SC & FL.
