I called 5 times before I asked the question here. I got pre-recorded messages offering me options that got me nowhere.
I got disconnected 3 times and the 2 other times I got to listen to music for 5+ minutes without ever getting an answer. They did not even the courtesy to say that my call is important for them
Not yet. The list will no doubt be up-dated soon to include the '08's.
Where there is no information concerning a current model year (2008) US specification vehicle you must contact the manufacturer to determine its admissibility or inadmissibility.
There was a spot on the Toronto news last week saying because so many people are bringing in cars from the Stated these day that Canada Border Service Agency is offering courses outlining the import process. Of course there is not mention of the classes on their web site.
The OEMs have moved to block the importation of US vehicles to Canada. General Motors has deemed all 2008 Corvettes and other GM models inadmissable - whatsoever, no modifications allowed. Toyota has done this with some 2008's as well. Since Transport Canada relies on the OEM for data on compliance, Canadians are being screwed with a price fixing scheme. Porsche is probably watching this, but as of now 2008's are not allowed in. I am sure this is illegal and possibly fraud.
boy you would think you were calling the government ..... oh wait , never mind .. carry on....
Heeeeeyyyy….. I felt that stick, poke right into my side!
Few years ago I had some questions importing a Miata and managed to actually talk to a liver person that spoke English and was able to answer all my questions. That’s why the suggestion of calling and asking them. Since I’m not a mind reader, I didn’t know you already called them.
From what I have been told, In early 2008 Porsche will be opening an new office in Canada, So apparently and I am not 100% of the truth but the 2008 will be not allowed to come over form the states, something about having an office here will allow them to void the warranty on the cars and by doing this stop any new cars by coming in. Again not 100% sure maybe this is part of the reason you cant see any 08 Porsches on the RIV list
all vehicles manufactured after Sept. 07 have to have vehicle immobilizer in them. Only Lexus has them in their vehicles as standard. The rest of the U.S. cars do not.
just to be clear, all 08 canadian cars must have an immobilizer on them. since this is not a requirement for US cars, most US cars do not have them and thus for 08 (and possibily beyond unless they start putting them in) imports are going to be a lot harder.
