Carmel, CA councours pics
Last week on vacation in San Francisco and Monterey, we stumbled into the 1st annual Carmel-by-the-sea concours. Sort of a precursor to the Pebble Beach event the following weekend (which I couldn't stay for ). Some beautiful p-cars and other exotics...none for sale, sadly! Enjoy

still more pics...
...Interestingly, I'd seen a few of those cars "resting" along the side of the road on the "17 mile drive" from Monterey to Carmel earlier that morning.
Ian,
Yes Carmel is painfully quaint and I suspect incredibly exclusive and expensive to live here. We did have a very enjoyable (and surprisingly affordable dinner there though)
This first ever concours was a very well attended event (certainly better than yesterdays GTG! Only Arnaud and I were there!)

In Monterey, the aquarium is a must see, the wharf is typical touristy schlock as is Cannery Row...but you still end up getting suckered into the kitsch. Do the "17 mile drive" through Pebble Beach and into Carmel by the sea; which is (as already mentioned), incredibly charming with lots of galleries and shops. We took a stroll along the beach in Carmel, but only dipped our toes into the frigid ocean.
If you're flying into SFO, rent a convertible and skip taking the 101...it's just a boring interstate. Head out to the PCH #1 via Hwy #92 to Half Moon Bay and then south on the #1...it's a drivers road and you will miss your Porsche terribly .
Santa Cruz on the way down is also a great area and there is a restaurant called "Chocolat" that makes the most amazing (you guessed it) hot chocolate and desserts.
Big Sur is also a beautiful part of the coast and apparently they offer 3 hour horseback trail rides there...we didn't have the time and my daughters still haven't forgiven me.
Here are a couple more pics from Carmel I found:

That 250 GT SWB is the most beautiful car of all time. I am sorry guys, and I will almost always own Porsche's (and not Ferrari's), however, the proportions of that particular piece of automotive legend will always rank as one of the greatest artistic achievements of modern time.
I am certain there will be many disagreements with that comment, but they are all wrong.
Nice pics Phil, How's the old car?
