I have to go to traffic court tomorrow in downtown TO for an illegal right hand turn I made last summer (total ticket trap as they had 4 of us pulled over at once because the sign was hidden behind some scafolding!). Anyway, the officer told me to fight the ticket, so I went down and filled out the forms to go to court. So what is the routine tomorrow? I've never been to traffic court before...

Adjournments, pleas and sentencing go first. Then contested matters. Hopefully you have some pics. Take the stand, be respectful of the court and don't talk over the jp. Explain the sign was hidden and you were unfamiliar with the area.

Man, what a cash grab! I haven't had a ticket on 23 years, so this was my first time to traffic court - at the old City Hall. I was going for a job interview last summer and made a right on Richmond from south on Bay, which is a no no. The person in front of me turned also and we both got pulled over by one of the 2 police officers standing there. Two other people had already been pulled over as well. I get 2 points and a $112 ticket or something like that and the police offer tells me to go and fight it....When I get to court there are about 25 people on the list. You go up to the Prosecutor and check in and he immediately says he can drop the points if I plead guilty to a lessor charge. OK. It turns out, that about 15 of the 25 people were all there for the same infraction, at the same corner, on the same morning! The police officer was there too! We all get no points and $60 with 30 days to pay. No one asks why we all made the turn...The funny thing was that even the guys who were from X-Copper and Pointts etc. got the same reduced penalty. So I'm glad that I didn't pay the $500 it would have cost to have them represent me. I was in the court at 1:20 and out again at 2:20. Not bad at all really.

oh the points ? if you are on the edge of losing your lisence then it was worth it . For insurance means nothing , you still have an infraction on your record.
