Default BC guys: Anyone Running a Sticker License Plate?

I found this on the Ferrari Chat forum,

"You can get your license plate converted into a decal (sticker) that they paste on the front of the car. i did this after getting pulled over 3 times on the same day (2nd day i had my car) in Richmond. The decal works well on the lambo because of the gap in between the front bumper vents. should work on the F-car too. I got mine arranged through Weissach ($100) and I'm sure FMOV can do the same."

Here is a pic- http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2858/dsc0021mo6ge8.jpg

I saw that car about a month ago and was wondering what was up with it.

MCL does this as well. The orange GT3 RS in town has a sticker plate.

There was a silver GT3 at the PCA event at Dundarave last month with one. He has the personalized plate GT3 996 (or maybe 996 GT3?) Anyway, it looked great. I suspect it is not a daily driver, so I don't know if our Lower Mainland's finest would have a problem with it or not. I do know that I HATE the look of my stock front frame and plate. It sticks out and makes the front bumper look fugly!

a 7 series Bimmer parked next to me today and the plate license looked like a bar code.
I am assuming that this is what you are referring to?
Sort of sticks out like a sore thumb

No, not a bar code. They take your license plate, scan it, clean it up with photoshop, then print it onto a sticker. It looks just like a license plate, same size, etc., but wraps around the contours of your bumper.

this brand new 7 series Bimmer had a bar code in the middle of the license plate holder. Front and rear.
If it parks here again I will get a pic.

As far as I know, in BC, it is illegal.

Guy in the club has a 550 spyder replica. He runs a decal (indistinguishable from an original) and has no hassles, but then again he only brings it out once in a while I would think.

Furthermore....I've been running my 996 without a front plate altogether since April (every single day) and so far I've experienced not even a whiff of hassle either.

My experience so far is that five-oh has better things to do than pull over respectable citizens for not cluttering up the front bumpers of their german sports cars.

Hope I don't get pulled over now (knock wood). If I do then I'll simply put my plate on and snivel my way out of the ticket.

BTW - Hey Northfire - have we met? The car looks familiar. Are you the son of the PCA member whose name I can never remember because of the way my brain is wired?

Definately a cool concept but definately as 100% illegal as not having a plate.

That being said, I would bet a lot of police officers would let you off since you are making an effort...

Yes Jasper we have met. We met at the first BBC of the year and I popped by the parking lot at the Tomahawk and saw your new ride for the first time at the 3rd BBC I think.

I haven't had a front plate either and have never been hassled either. 5-0 may hassle if they have you pulled over for something else or at a road check. Mind you a bud of mine was driving the RSA and got a speeding ticket but the cop never said boo about the missing plate.

Dad has Arctic Silver 997 C2S.

Wish I was that lucky... I got pulled over at the Westmount exit for no front plate even though there was an F150 speeding beside me. West Van cops actually don't have anything bettert to do.

Thought so - hand's down nicest RSA in town, that's for sure.

Man I haven't been out to any tours, events, not even a BBC since the first one. Too damn busy.

We'll see you around.
