I was at the club meeting Tuesday ( didn't see any regulars ) It will probably be my last unless I have a real good reason to go, but we'll talk more on that later... They only had 4 cars registered for their Concour event. Of course they want money from you 10.00 just to show up even if you are a club member . 55.00 if you want to show your car at the gate.. Don't think I will even bother. I got into it a little with Botho over the Warranty of US cars and people expresing their opinions on the website, some things never change and would explain why I can get more Porsches in a parking lot weekly, than he can get at a club meeting monthly.
As usual it's all about getting sponsor ship and raising money for the handfull of ultra rich guys who race .. He said a few guys mouthing off on the forum is not the opinion of the club. That's where he doesn't get it .. IT IS the opinion of the club , because we make it up. He said he had to go to DFC and kiss *** so he wouldn't lose sponsership for his track program ... theres ya zone one rep .... wonder where his interests lie....
I just got up and walked away as some things you won't change..

Hey Clive, I was there last Tuesday. And Gary was there too. But we arrived late (7:15pm) and must have missed you by a few minutes while you ran out the door... You did not miss anything, it was boring as usual. Even the guest speaker did not show up... See you on Saturday morning.
Bummer, you were sitting with the old farts. Gary and I were at the back near the windows (at least we had a view). We did not listen too much either, only when Gary's number got picked at the raffle and he won a PCA UCR T-shirt. He can always use it to polish his exhaust tips
Hey Clive, thanks for posting that. So they're still smarting over that thread on the UCR forum? Man. You know I was asked to edit or delete my comments, right? I did, because I didn't want UCR to suffer, but maybe they need to stand up for their membership more. Did you see the thread I posted on there last night? I'm curious to see if it'll get any official response.
I was planning on going to the concours - it's my first father's day as a father! I've always wanted to go, but had to father's day stuff, so this year I get to choose. But there are only 4 cars registered? That sucks! The pics in Provinz always show tons of cars! I'm not entering, just taking the grocery getter pimp-mobile Explorer with the family. I'd just like to spend an hour or so looking at all the metal.
I'd be surpised if only 4 cars showed. Last time there were (best guess) twenty or so and at least that many in the parking lot. I get to rake leaves this weekend in the north so I'll miss both sat and sun. On a plus I did get my brakes done.
I'm going to the concours. I guess with 4 cars, I have a lock on winning the 996 category! It's been a father's day tradition for us when I had the benzes so I'd be disappointed if this one sucked this bad.
BTW: I sent the prez Rob Sutherland a very lengthy email a few weeks ago following his request for ideas to improve UCR in the last two issues of Provinz but I never heard anything back. I also invited him to come out to our Sat GTGs and see what we're all about...no show so far I guess.
BTW, just to clarify, the concours in Sunday, not Saturday. Clive, I'm not sure if you can change the thread title but if so, you might want to, just to avoid confusing people.
I was going to go Tuesday, but a meeting ran late so I wasn't going to get there until about 7:15 - 7:30 so I elected to pass. My bride and I went for a nice ride in the p-car instead (no groceries this time!). Sounds like I made the right decision.
I won't be going to the Concours this Sunday (few other things on the go this w/end), but I did go last year. They did have a good turnout, although I don't know how many were registered this close to the event. Attached are a couple of shots from last year at Appleby College.
Good catch Christien I didn't even notice. The president said only 4 cars were registered as of last week. I am sure tonnes of people will register at the gate, but I don't know if they will change the plan to only having a peoples choice award. MAybe it has to do with location too who knows.
My Plan is to do some painting on the weekend as I have been away for the last two. But I may come down , I am just not as motivated as I once was. I would much rather go to our Saturday get together if I can only get out to one thing on the weekend.
