Default Trailer Hitch Issues ... Legal

Folks ... just a FYI.

My manager had an accident on Monday were a BMW slid into the back end of his 4x4 truck. he had the draw bar and ball attached to his receiver which pierced the front of the BMW's rad. Well, he got a $180 fine for driving his vehicle with the trailer hitch attached and NOT pulling a trailer. Seems the only legal time you can have the draw bar and ball attached is when you are pulling a trailer or about to pull a trailer!!!

It's supposed to be something that dealers tell customers when they install a towing package; you MUST remove the draw bar and ball out of the receiver when you are not towing or you could be liable for damage caused to other vehicles. It usually applies to backing into someone though.

Well I'm not going to stop.

The fine is cheaper than fixing my bumper.

Wow didn't know that.

And some lady destroyed the front of her car by hitting my trailer hitch and scratching my back bumper on my pick up. She scratched my bumper, but gave me $100. I guess I was very lucky!
