Default Whats the best place to get tires in Canada

I'm located in Edmonton, and don't want to bother with getting dinged with brokerage and duties with getting stuff shipped from the states(unless there is a way around it), do you guys have a good source for tires, I’m sure you are all familiar with our cars appetites for rubber....

thanks
Shalil

www.talontire.com - in Montreal, have been buying tires from them for 20 years now. However, I have heard a place out west that people like - can't remember the name offhand, though.

I purchased some tires from these guys a few years ago and was happy. Cheap prices and shipping.

Got my MPS's from www.tirerack.com

They would have been CDN$2100 locally but I got them for CDN$1300 after currency conversion/tax/shipping and just had to pay CDN$150 for local installation and RoadForce balancing.

I am all for shopping on this side of the border but not at a cost of over $500!

Default Costs to bring tires to Canada via TireRack

Just ordered a fresh set for the GT3:
Went to MPSC - Cost was 1266US incl shipping ($86US)

Brokerage = $63CDN via UPS
Tax will be the standard .15

Tires took 3 days to get to TO.

Here, for the same US made and French made tires, the rears alone were $710 each CDN plus taxes.

So, to each their own, but paying that kind money to keep a Canadian in the rich seems too rich to me.

At Pneus Touchette in Montreal, a set of Cups for a GT3 costs 1595 C$ less a 100 dollar rebate or, 1495. They are a big club supporter and the owner tracks his car with us. He pushed Michelin into a better deal because of the stupid price spread between canada and the USA. Ask for Nick Touchette if you call them. They are a very large distributor with 400K tires in stock.

Bob - holy smokes that IS a great deal at Pneus Touchette!
$1495CDN! vs (1266US +$63CDN)1.15 {TIRERACK}

Do you get Pneus Touchette to do the install or do you get the tires and hand them to your tire-mounter guy/gal?

Yup. It's a great deal.
And nobody is happier than me. I have already ordered 5 sets ! Would have been more but they don't make Cups in Radical sizes.
Great move by Nic, he must have really put the screws to Michelin to get such a great deal.

Rgds,
Holy cow, that's some deal, the local tire shop here quoted me something like $1400 for stock 951 sizes (16 inch rims), I could only imagine the insanity pricing on something like a 996, I just checked 1010tires is selling MPSC for GT3 for ~$2000 CDN +shipping.

Is that deal only on the MPSC's or any michelin?

Jason.

LastGT3 = touchette mounts and balances with first class service. They are also the distributor for OZ wheels and carry spares for same. They are authorized to rebuild them too.

Best,

Bob or Mike, can i get a hold of Nick at Touchette by means of an email or a web site? I'm currently in Europe and am really itching to drive my car when i get back to Canada, so i need a set sitting at my door step when i get home!!
any contact details would be great, also as mentioned can i get that deal on just the plain old Michelin Piolt Sport?

thanks
Shalil
