Yearly insurance costs in Canada
Curious to know what others are paying for insurance for a 12 month period?
Would be interested to know if my current rate is comparable. Reviewed posts from US owners which make Canadian Rates look sky high.
I am with ING, paid $ 1,392 with $ 1,000 ded for 12 months ( no collision for Nov 15- Apr 1 Total for year would have been $ 1,892) with Boomerang installed on a 2005 997.

whats your liability limit? either way your coverage is dirt cheap. how can you complain?? do you have waiver of depreciation coverage? is the cheapest deal important when insuring a 997 or is being with the best market that will take care of you?
you cannot compare to US rates as they carry very low liability limits in most states, in some cases $10,000

Most of my clients pay between $900-1,500 CAD for 12 months with usually a 5% deductible and no glass coverage. This is assuming the P-car is one of 2-3-4 in their fleet and that they have a relatively clean record.

I know that you can't compare 997 insurance rates to 964 rates...but I pay about $760 a year for secondary vehicle. Does not include collision, no windshield coverage, $1 million liability, and $1000 fire and theft deductible.
I've cleaned up my driving record considerably the last few years.....I was paying through the nose for a Mustang GT....$3400 a year, and about 4 speeding tickets. (9 demerits)

paul997...you may be wondering why YYC930 and myself quoted without glass coverage.....they surcharge us bigtime if we want our windshields covered out here in Alberta. I can't remember what it was for my p-car, but my 8 year old Ford is an extra $180 a year. (give or take) I can get it replaced for around $250...so it makes no sense to it have it insured. I've only had to replace it once in the 4 years I've owned it.

Paul,
I'm paying 1100$ for a 95 993 cabrio. Full coverage, 500$ deductible. The collision part is removed between November and April. Considering that my car is 10 years older than yours, worth a lot less and that you live in a bigger city (more risk for insurance cies most of the time), your insurance price seems more than fair to me...
Cheers

I'm 32 and I'm at $2433 for '05 Carrera S (a bit less really because it's parked over the winter). $5k deductable. $1 million liability. It's a lot better now that I've got all my points back for a few years. It was $7000 ($4000 after winter hibernation) last year because I didn't have all my points back for long enough.

$2200 a year for a GT3 with 5K deductible "agreed value" and 5MM liability; 15 years no claims, no demerits. I get a discount because they insure 5 cars and my homes. Jeez, if I keep buying cars my insurance rates could go to zero! Mike, yours sounds very high. Mine is based on winter storage but there is no fixed period and, I am allowed to drive it in winter. The winter discount is one third - which is reflected in the price above. Taxes are extra though.

$ 2 042.00 liability/loss/damage/collision for 12 months.
Actual amount paid will be less because
I plan to take off of insurance during winter months.
Liability: $ 1 mill
Deductable: $ 3 000.00 (WTF...)
Tickets: none (in 6 yrs)
Accident claims: 1 (one year ago; deemed not at fault by police/insurance)
Vandalism claims: 1 (11 years ago)

The good thing about an old Porsche ... the insurance
I have a 78 sc targa and I pay a whopping 470.00 dollars per year with no collision of course .. it looks like you guys could buy my car after about 5 years of insurance rates...
