Default 1997 993 C2 FOR SALE: UPDATE - SOLD

I've been sitting on the fence about selling my car, but recently decided for sure to sell it. It's in the classifieds and is ad # 4928. I would love it to go to another Canadian Rennlister and wanted to let people know that the price was just reduced to $49,950 CDN in an effort to facilitate a quick sale. The car is excellent by anyone's criteria and needs absolutely nothing. I am confident that it will meet or exceed any potential buyer's expectations.

Question

Thanks for the complements guys. I don't want to start a debate on values of similar Canadian vs US cars, but I'd really like to hear some feedback on my asking price. So feel free to comment on my price or what you feel an excellent, well sorted 993 C2 6-speed coupe with 47,000 miles is worth on the Canadian market. Thanks !!

Try this sight out, it has a couple of cars on it you can compare with. I was actually considering this 993 that is why I know the site.

The place is justthe other side of London

Iceman...Not sure what grey market is. My car was purchased in New Hampshire for personal use. The 96 coupe at Grace Motors has 94,000 miles which is a huge difference and is priced accordingly. I do think it's a reasonable price for it though.

Don

Grey Market is simply a term used to describe a car that was sold in one country and transported to another country. It is nothing negative but there are some who believe " grey market" cars are worth less. I think you are right about the 993 at Grace , I was attracted by the reasonable price as I drive my car so little having a significantly lower millage car was not worth the extra coin to me.
Yours sounds like it is priced right for your milage and Spring is coming, but your problem might be finding someone with the money before your GT3 goes.

Oh incidentaly I ended up buying a nice 78 911 sc Targa. I really enjoy working on it and have an arms long list of work I have done on it ( just as a project not because it needs it ) but I really wanted a nice 993 cab and still hope to get one one day .

Good luck.

I think its fair maket value. I am sure you will sell it close to your asking price, 993 are getting rare and more so in Canada. Good Luck.

Don:
FWIW I think that the car is priced right - assuming no accidents and a good PPI. I've been watching your ad for a while now and I think the reason it hasn't sold is because 1) you originally listed it in the fall / winter I believe and 2) your location (Eastern Canada if memory serves correct).
That being said, in a Spring market this car will sell in this price range. Be patient - it's a good colour combo with reasonable miles and I'm sure it will get snapped-up.
I see you have it listed on the PCA site. You may also want to consider AutoTrader (Ontario) in a few weeks when the weather gets warmer.
Good luck.

Hello Don,

There is a guy that posted this in Montreal:
http://www.rennsport.ca/E_membership/cherche_ads.html

I think you may have what he is looking for and Montreal is not that far form PEI...
As for price, I think your asking price is very reasonable. I'm asking about the same for a 95 Polar silver canadian cabrio with 100KM.

Hope it helps...
Pierre

Thanks for all the feedback. I have 100% confidence in the car, and was curious to get some opinions on price. In Canada, more so than the US, prices seem to be all over the map.

Pierre, I did get a call from Matt and he seemed interested, but was ideally trying to find a car in Quebec to save on taxes. It didn't seem to make sense to me, but he said he'd have to pay GST twice on any vehicle purchased out of province. Is that right??

Nope, only one tax and it would be PST and not GST. He will pay the tax once he enters the car in Quebec. He'll have to do an inspection to register the car in Quebec.

Good Luck

CWay27: That's what I thought would apply. If you buy a private sale vehicle out of province, there is no tax paid in the seller's province and only PST payable when the car is registered in your home province. Anybody else confirm that for me??

Why should you have to pay tax on a private sale period? Excuse my ignorance, I've been living in a taxless area for too long (GST only)...
