Just put a deposit down for a 2007 997TT, told them I would wait for the DSG transmission...expect a build date of March 2007.
Pfaff already has 30 orders for the straight 6sp 997TT starting delivery in June.
Love the new look.

Indeed....I love my present 997s and this new TT is incredible and will be fun to look forward to .. Pfaff told me I can expect an order book within a month..they think the price will be inline with present TT's with a slight bump for the DSG similar to Tiptronic designation..probably go with blue on tan again.

Just noticed the new 997TT is 3,494 lbs (manual) and 3,571 (tip), its getting too fat I am sure this can't be as nimble as the 996TT
Another thing is the tip is a lot faster then the manual??
Thats is a bit wierd.

M3 CSL are using that technology). Technologically, it is as far removed from a tiptronic transmission as you can imagine. it is an automatically shifted manual transmission with no torque converter or other power robbing crap of the traditional transmissions. Why it is potentially faster is due to two things:
1- it can shift gears a hell of a lot quicker than you and i can,
2- because it shifts more quickly, there is less engine RPM loss between shifts resulting in less boost loss between shifts

Alon I am not arguing that DSG/SMG/PDK wouldn't be faster but I am talking about Porsche's Tiptronic system. How could they improved it so much over the one in the 996.
How many shift are really done to 60 anyways, 1st to 2nd and then maybe a shift to 3rd.

I am pretty sure that the 997tt will not be using the same tiptronic transmission as in the 996tt. In fact, the 996tt transmission is a Mercedes Benz transmission (it says so right on the casing). Porsche may be calling it a Tiptronic but it will be something different (a-la DSG/PDK/etc.) for the 997tt.
