Hi guys
As I will be importing the 944, they request a letter from the manufacturer regarding any recalls. I tried the search but couldn't find anything about any recalls actually sent out. Does anyone know? The car in question is a 1987 944
Cheers,
Parker

PCNA will provide said letter but you have to pay a $200 USD fee (approx) for the compliance letter stating what recalls are outstanding (if any). There is no other option.

I spent half an hour on hold with RIV before giving up. If the recalls were not performed on the car in question, will it be performed by the dealership or is this a pipedream?
Sorry for all the questions but thanks for the help!

Recalls are government mandated items, therefore they are free of charge and must be performed by a dealer (you'll need the dealer paperwork to prove it at the border if there were any outstanding ones on the car)......assuming the parts for a 20 year old car are still available that is.
Chances are that the car has had them performed however IMHO, merely due to the amount of time it has been around.

the only recall I remember from my 944 ( which was an 87 ) was the fuel rail. They replaced the rail and injectors due to leaking. There was a recall for the timing belt also but that was a Porsche run campaign not a mandated one. ( Guess they replaced too many heads under warranty ) any way this might help your search.

FYI I did not need a compliance letter when importing my '87 944 last summer.
Additionally, CARFAX reports state whether or not there are any outstanding recalls on the said vehicle.
