Default Looking for a good Porsche Race shop

I am not happy with my former Porsche shop and would like to know if there is somewhere else to take my car for service and track suspension setup.

Fiorano is top dog, I agree - but GTek in Scarborough does a great job as well.

i'd be interested in comments too. I have used ULi in Kitchener. A perfectionist regardless of your budget, a great mechanic but bring LOTS of money. Mantis, charged me 75.00 for an oil change and I brought my own oil ( it's a long story ). Fiorano I liked but still a thosand bucks to replace two ball joints ( remaned control arms ). I have heard august lecourt is excellent down in St Catherines. I have never used him because I dumped my money pit 944 before I had to.
just my .02c.

I don't think we want to "slag" anyone but it may be helpfull to share experiences.

I got a set of Motons DA CS shocks...he did not know how to install them...charged me to do it twice...WRONG. could not figure out how to adjust the ride height.
Did not bill me as to the price quote he gave me over the phone...

He's not proactive..why he did not call Moton to help him figure it out..to install it right is beyond me.
His only concern was the HUGE bill. and to push it out the door.

I asked him to check the fitment of my BBS wheels ...check bolt sizes .. got that wrong.. I had to ask him 4 to 5 times before he actually realy looked at them.
I still had to pay $200 for the wrong bolts.. re & re the tires again..$395
so there is $600 for nothing.

Car broke down today..back fired...gargled..dead.

Now which dealer?

So I am pissed.

take it to fiorano. he will work with the dealer on warranty issues for you if you are a customer. im sorry to say i told ya so but GTEK is good for 944 and thats about it. Fiorano races modern porsche, GT3, 996/997 grand am etc etc. they can do it all and do it right. PERIOD. i dont know what the resistance is to going there but get over it before you have a really ****ed up car

The dealer calls me up this morning..received car okay.. requested mechanic is busy untill Tuesday... Okay do not want to wait that long..

we talk about what happend.

so when will you be able to look at it.? Tuesday.

How about a rental... go try Budget. Porsche does not give courtesy cars..
Porsche NA encourages there dealers to do it on there own. WOW that's a first .
I get a loaner with a Cavalier but not a Porsche...okay

My fuel pump rubber hose broke..split open...losing pressure...you think they would have a thicker hose.

The dealer also checked the Moton Shock install...the front right ride height/shock pearch setting
was 1" lower then the left side ...talk about half *** work.

I saw your car at Pfaff and the suspension bits that you're having installed. Dirk Dunschede is the tech who is working on the car and he's the right guy for the job since he wrenches for the Fiorano team at races. You'll be happy with his work as long he can put in the hours necessary to do everything right.
