Older (new to me) 911sc
I've been lurking on the board for quite some time. I've noticed there isn't a lot of activity here (which is too bad), and it seems that most of the people here have newer cars.
My story? I've just picked out a '78 911sc and should be picking up this week. It looks like it's in all original condition with no rust! I can't convey how excited I am as I have always wanted one (actually I wanted the turbo in the same body style -- but it has the classic whale tale loved by all!).
I would also be interested if the owners of the older models would sound off here, and would love to attend some meets (old or new models) that might be happening. I'm a little new to this scene so please initiate me
Also, if there are any other sites that the seasoned owner would recommend I would appreciate it.
Anyway, I have a few pics (one of which I've cropped for my avatar), but will have MANY more (I'm into a little photography too!) once I have the car in my possession.
Another Porsche nut arrives,
Alex.

Congrats on the new purchase! I am one of those newer 911 folk (but still air cooled), but hey, any 911 is great!
As Jaac said, join your local PCA club (in your case, UCR) and there you will find many kindered spirits!
Cheers;
Eric

Thanks for all the well wishes! I'll try and make the next meet...
if you're in the Toronto area and you know a thing or two about these older models, and you feel like sharing your knowledge, drop me a line... If interested, I'm actually in the Richmond Hill area.
I'm really looking forward to taking it for a ride and getting some pics!

I've especially always had an affinity for the older 911's. It definately has to be one of the longest production run cars without any significant changes to body style. A have also always been a big fan of the whale tale, and was quite disappointed when they didn't integrate it somehow into the new models.
In shopping around for one, I have come across a large number of gems, but have noticed that people really enjoy swapping and combining parts from different years... the one I got seems to be all original without even ever having any body work! Although I will still have to confirm this when I get it.
I must admit, I like the all original, but will be thinking about several upgrades (like newer power seats )
I've taken a look at the PCR site, are there any other groups in the T.O area? I probably still have to do some searching.
Great to be here!

Another thing to watch for are the SW Ontario Pelican Fun Runs. We have done 2 great runs this summer. Very informal & great people. Most of the guys also work on their own cars.
