Talking First pics with my D70!

Well, yesterday was one of the better days of my life. I got home from school to see a huge box with a whole bunch of goodies in it, including my Nikon D70! This camera is AMAZING! The shutter is instant and powerup is the same is the same as a normal SLR. I took a few pics outside today (sorry, no Porsche's running around in -10 weather!). I was really surprised on how well they came out.

enjoy the pictures!

Amazing shots.
On the subject of cameras - what digital camera should one buy in the up to $500 price range.
I was looking at the Nikon Coolpix 5100 5.1MP for $329
or do you think the quailty is not there and I should go for a more expensive Cannon or Sony Cyber-shot DSCP150P 7.2MP

I would love to get the Nikon CoolPix 8800 8.0MP or Nikon D70 6.1MP SLR but the $1300 and up price tag is a bit high.
Why did you go with the D70 when the 8800 is less expesive? is it becuase the 8800 is not as good quailty?

I am looking to replace a very crappy 3.4mp sony that takes very fuzzy pictures and gets about one not so fuzzy picture in every 10 shots. From day one it has never been as good as disposable cammera.
I like a small camera thats easy to put in you pocket but takes good pictures, at least as good cheap regualar camera.

I also have a Milnolt Dimage XT and it is the size of a deck of cards but takes very good shots.

Funny you should compare the D70 to the 8800, my brother has an 8800 so I have had alot of first hand experience on this issue. The D70 has much more of a professional and sturdy feel to it, mostly because of its larger size. The 8800 also has a digital viewfinder which is not that great.
It really depends on what you are going to use the camera for. If you want a camera with a viewfinder, video mode, and compact size then the 8800 is the way to go. If you want to be able to change lenses and really get serious about photography, then the D70 is it!

Good Luck!
