Default Just arrived in Canada / Ottawa region.

Hello Canada.

I have not been on rennlist for a couple of months due to the fact that I have been in the process of a lengthy move from Belgium.

Sadly without my old 1988 Alpine White NA 944.

I had to sell it to get here!

However now that I am here I am happy I sold my car to someone in Europe as I would get real upset at the SLOTCH sticking to my car..

Snow....... I am not going to say anything on this topic.

I have however discovered Tim Hortons, and tim bits. thats good.

If there is anything else I need to know please pitch in.

Best regards,

John , bienvenue............

Welcome John....I live on the shores of Georgian Bay due west of you. I store my P-Car during the winter because of the salt and snow. Again welcome to Canada and to Rennlist Canada.......Bill

I don't participate in the group functions... but surf the forums and read the monthly newsletter religiously.

are you here permanantly or just for a short while?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the local info.

I am here for good, I am just over the river in Aylmer, near the marina.

I am sure that once we get settled then I will be looking for another Porsche to run. The area is nice and the snow is , well interesting.

Best regards,

John C.

Hi John!

So you finally made it to Canada! I'm pretty sure you posted about moving to Ottawa about a year ago on rennlist.

Watch for a guard red 944S in Gatineau (I'm the only one). Might be replaced by a 964, if I find one though.

I'll show you some nice twisties in 2 months and 8 days!

hi giraffe

Yep, it was over 1 year ago I first posted that I was going to move here!
I will look out for you, you should not be too hard to spot, in fact i have not seen 1 porsche yet. I guess the snow stops most people getting out!

well, when the time comes... I can recommend a killer Porsche mechanic who works a little out of the way... but $60/hr labour rates compared to $100/hr at Mark Motors!
he may have a few cars to offer as well

shoot me an email if you need some more info (when the time comes, whenever)
I own a VW/Audi specialty shop... working on my 911 is not my cup of tea... I'll save my wrenching for the dubs.
let me know if you need any help/connections!

David,

I might be getting into the 964 world... currently reading Adrian's book... where do you get your car serviced? I've had a bad experience with AutoImport on Woodward (Ottawa)... Are you referring to Chris Kirby by any chance? I deal with a guy in Kingston for all my important maintenance.

John,

I rarely see any p-cars on the roads in the winter. I see a guy with a 944 turbo, but he's the exception!

Chris Kirby is indeed my mechanic.
Auto Import and Mark Motors refer to him all the time.
as for P-cars on the road in the winter..... it's a very controversial subject.
I wouldn't dare roll in a 911 in the winter.
unless it was a 996 or 997 and a leased car where I didn't care what happened to it. There are a few of those in town, but most people who spend the $ try to preserve the investment.

Welcome to Ottawa. It's a very nice place to live. I happened to see a 996 Cab the other night when it was snowing. I couldn't believe it.

I'll be joining Rennsport soon and as soon as break in is done my car (which is on order) I'll be heading to the track.

please tell me that this car is parked in proximity to the Canadian Tire @ Carling/Woodroffe area?!?!

there is a white 951 that has been there for years that I have admired.
it seems to never leave it's resting place.... but it's always clean and in the driveway. if this is the same car, I'm sure it'll sell for top dollar and quickly.
