Anyone know if 996 speedo has to be changed on import to Canada?

Curious to know if anyone has experienced this. As you know the U.S. spec. anologue speedo. gauge on the 996 (as opposed to the 993) only reads in mph. I understand that there is a digital readout below that can be changed to show kilometeres per hour but is this enough to satisfy the Canadian Feds? If not, do you have to replace the entire speedo., or is there some sort of transparent overlay you can place directly on the speedo. to indicate kph. Just wondering.

i don't think you have to change the guages at all. my friend is still driving around in a 2nd gen eclipe that only reads MHP.

but just to be safe i think if you set ur digi display to kph then you would be fine.

Didn't have to change the speedo on my 98 C2S, so I doubt it.

Go to www.riv.ca, get the phone number and call them. They will tell you exactly what mods you have to do.

Theoretically, you're supposed to. When I just imported my car, part of the BC inspection process was to put little km/hr stickers on the MPH speedo. It's on the checklist of things to be done, but I know the guy I used didn't put them on as per my request.
