Default Cayman GTS Engine Options

Hello All,

I'm doing a project on a 981 GTS and the project involves removing the engine. The car currently has 36,000 kms and is perfect in every way. Since I have no need for the engine going forward I would like to sell it BUT I'm not sure where to do that. I'm located in Ontario. Does anyone know I could best go about selling this engine? Suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance

I listed a 911 3.8 engine on Rennlist Marketplace and sold it quickly.
The biggest market will be the US so if you do this be prepared to ship it.
I only live 60 miles from US border so drove the engine over and shipped it by carrier out of the US.
Way cheaper than shipping from Canada.

What did US Customs say when you told them that you were bringing an engine across the border to sell? Did they charge you duty? TIA!

Interesting to hear more about the project. LS3 conversion?
I would post the engine for sale locally first on Kijiji, Facebook. etc. Also try offering it to well known Porsche specialist shops like Mantis and Hunter.

Thanks for your thoughts on this. I'm also close to a border crossing but not sure about how I would get an engine across without taxes being paid. How did you handle that?

I considered that but wasnt sure how active those locations were for "speciality items" like a Porsche engine. I dont have any experience with Mantis or Hunter. Where are they located?

i sold a set of wheels once . told the guy i was brining them over to ship them. I think he asked the value and it was like a grand and he just waived me through ... i think its like when they ask you how much cash you are bringing into the country .. i dont think its a big deal.

Sounds about right. If you were bringing these into Canada, Canada customs would have wanted to see the last 20 years of tax returns and a full STD screening....
