Would be fun to have a go with it. But my insurance policy says no.

no as in if you track it, it voids your policy or just that they won’t cover damage if it occurs on the track? I assume the latter.

my understanding is that no insurance company will cover track use in Canada.

I believe it is the latter. Would need to check the exclusion letters. Chubb & Hagerty both have them.

I could get Open Track coverage, but it's too costly on the market value for the number of days I'll track this year. You have to buy annual coverage for Canada, which used to work out to a good deal at over 8 track days when compared to purchasing local track insurance by the day.

I recently got quote from 2 insurance companies that confirmed with their underwriter that HPDE will be covered. PM me for the names of these 2 agents that I worked with so you don't have to explain what HPDE is to them cause I send them the PCA HPDE handbook.

Needless to say, I am now insured with one of them and paying less than I paid Intact

Unless something has changed in the last year, which I don't believe to be the case, if you are doing HPDE you are insured (although running slicks or other non-street legal mods might add complication). I know of numerous payouts over the years (not mine). Racing is another story.

If that’s correct, that’s new.

Or perhaps there are a couple companies offering policies outside of the norm. HPDE used to be covered 20yrs ago then every company I was aware of excluded any damage incurred on a race track, regardless of if it was in a race or HPDE.

Seems very strange to me that HPDE is now covered by anyone, but good on you guys for finding coverage that includes it!!!!

I have CAA as my insurance provider and up until 2022 I had track insurance coverage under my policy. In the fall of 2022 I received a letter from them saying that they no longer provide track coverage.

Unless you have signed a separate track exclusion endorsement you are covered for DE events.

Yes as it's not excluded.

For those keeping track. Chubb and Hagerty ask for track exclusion documents, as of last year.

Hmmm...I am not aware of a track exclusion document from Hagerty in last year or this year's renewal.

Regardless, Hagerty will cancel you as a client if you tell them you are going to the track. At least that's what their reps told me.

Signed in June 2023. Policy change form - NPCF RTX Competitive or Race Track Use Exclusion. Parade laps are allowed however.

They will not cancel my insurance, just won't be covered on track.
