Why do you have such a hate for boomers? I know that younger kids make boomer comments all of the time, but I’ve seen the pics you’ve posted of yourself and you look to be not too far behind the last of the boomers. I’m gen x/boomer cusp and studied generational differences in grad school, so I get the rationale behind some of the comments the younger kids make. My 23 year old son is constantly saying, “ok boomer”. However, you look to be in your 50’s, so I don’t understand why you continually go back to the boomer comments when other member’s views don’t align with yours.

Hey Mark, if anyone says OK boomer to me, I say, as a multi residence landowner, my preferred pronoun is Squire/Sire and yours should be Renter/Serf, because unless a boomer helps you or you become a surgeon, you will never be a landowner. And maybe no boomer will be able to help. Check out the government debt they'll have to pay directly or through lost inheritance. If you were a "bankrupt" government and the middle class is totally tapped out, what would you do? Slap on an 80% - or whatever - tax on any inheritance over say $5 million or maybe $2 million. I used to advise governments on this stuff and see this as pretty much their only option unless they want to lose official status.

You're not too far off here based on the breakdown:

Breakdown of Wealth by Generation

The Visual Capitalist used the Federal Reserve’s data from the final quarter of 2022 to provide a general breakdown of generational wealth. Here’s what they found:
  • Baby boomers: $78.1 trillion (50%)
  • Generation X: $46 trillion (29.5%)
  • Silent Generation: $18.6 trillion (11.9%)
  • Millennials: $13.3 trillion (8.5%)
  • Generation Z: Insufficient data
When you super impose pop by generation it's even worse given that millennials, Z and Alpha outnumber Boomers and X. Can you imagine what the gap will look like when boomers are all but gone?

Gen X will become the new 1% and the rest will be supporting them...lol

Actually, a lot of the animosity that younger generations feel towards boomers is exactly because of that wealth gap and I get that. However, I view ageism as I view all other ‘isms” - racism, sexism, etc. What I don’t understand is why some feel that it is ok to display their prejudices with respect to age on a public forum and that the moderators of the forum allow it. Yet, if someone expressed their racial prejudices here they would be jumped on by the members and banned by the moderators in a heartbeat.

Don’t misunderstand, I’m not losing any sleep over this. I just find it the height of ignorance and would prefer that I not have to read it on a car forum that I frequent.

Last night at dinner my kids and spouse tried making fun of me by calling me a boomer. I had to prove to them that I was Gen X.

I remind my son that this boomer gave him life, wiped his *** for the first few years of his life and gave him that expensive education that has enabled him to provide for himself now!

Boomer and Gen X seem to be melting into one...

What could possibly go wrong when billions are invested in a fad product with no mass market appeal because it is impractical.
