I'm more than a little surprised if any current Porsche owners don't know this. Looking closely outside and especially inside these cars it's more than a little obvious that it's more about what's not common between Boxster/Cayman/911. And that doesn't bother me one bit.

Porsche is smart. They got us all drooling over this stuff, 911 x 30 different versions of the same car.

Lots of companies do this however. GM uses truck frames etc for their SUV. Why totally redesign when you can build off something that works.

Look at the Supra, it’s a BMW with a Toyota body over it.

Anyway, parts interchangeability is a car enthusiasts' best friend

So the members that don't have too much time on their hands do not click on a link that they have already viewed - This does not include you, obviously.

No, just ignoring you for the most part. Some of the things you post are too funny to ignore. ie, you drive a penismobile

Actually, I can't see your posts at home, only at work. Don't care enough to figure out why.

I don't know if it's addressed in this but an analyst a few years ago estimated the cost difference between a base Boxster and a 911 Turbo at about $5,000. So if a Boxster is profitable at $85K (its current base price) then it's over $200K of gravy when a Turbo S Cab leaves the plant at $300K! Similarly, GM makes something like $50K profit on every Escalade they sell.

Probably the most egregious is the up charges for wheels. $6K on a set of wheels that doesn't cost one cent more to manufacture than the standard wheels on the car...in some cases the standard wheels have even been forged and the upgrade wheels are cast!!! Mental!

its been recognized for years ( i used to live next door to an auto industry exec) That Porsche is the most profitable car company in the world per car.

Not surprising
