Default Tagtracking.Ca ? Anyone been asked by insurance to implement this?

Hi all,

Tagtracking.Ca

Has Anyone been asked by insurance to install this for a Discount on insurance?
If we do this - they will be able to track us everywhere? our speed? our locations? I dont like the sound of this

yeah there was once ..long ago .. when your driving record was private .... and could never be accessed by ins companies.... yeah .. those good old days of privacy..

i remember about 15 years ago a ins guy was at a PCA club meeting touting the benefits of these when they first came out ... he got roasted.. guy had ***** though to get up there ill give him that .

he actually stated they would not be used to gather your driving habits and it was your personal data they would never access. lol ..

we have a Lexus RX350. our last insurance renewal offered a free tag tracking system. Decline and premium would increase 40%. we reluctantly agreed.

Most companies are offering it for free. I think even Hagerty was as well.

Most companies use an app on your smart phone for this... 10% discount. NOT IT. Wife was using it because she had too many distracted driving tickets from using her phone lol.

Tag is different. It is for tracking only if stolen. The app tracks good driving habits and you get a discount if you comply - totally different systems.

I wouldn't put anything on my car that would allow an insurance company to track location or gather any other data.

We seriously considered selling it rather than putting the tag on it. Also, knowing that it is constantly being scoped to steal and not being able to leave it on our driveway overnight is a PITA. However, it will be my winter work car next year, so it's worth more to me as a beater. If someone wants to track me in it go ahead...I'll be at work

Allstate offered a $300 a year discount if my wife had a Tag system installed on her 2023 Kia Seltos , supposedly good for five years
so a $1500 total discount is nice in the long run !

Cheers
Phil

Speaking of tracking and airtags, does anyone know how to enable the air tags so the thief can't ping a noise and find it, or what is the best process in this regard?

The Tag system contract is with the vehicle owner not the insurance company. Ownership can be transferred to a new owner when the vehicle is sold. The owner must report the vehicle stolen. The insurance company has no legal right to any data with this arrangement - I specifically asked this question. This is a theft tracker, not one used for capturing driving habits.
