Default Front axle lift necessary in Tor?

Is front axle lift necessary in Toronto? What about Europe in general as I am pick up my 911T there.

Totally depends on where you drive.

I don’t think the T is that low. I am sure you can always find a driveway that will scrape.

Just enter at an angle slowly.

If you use underground parking lots where you can't enter at an angle there is some danger of scraping. I have done a lot of driving in Europe and many of the parking lots are surprisingly narrow. As for Toronto most of the time you don't need them, but if there is a lip where they are resurfacing the road and you are in the unfinished area. you might need it. I have a 991RS and 992RS and they are generally ok. My 997RS is quite low in comparison and I have had four splitters on it since 2007. The lift was not an option on the 997.1 and there are parking lots where the scrape cannot be avoided.

If you got it you'll use it.... i do when I'm not in the mood of being a grandma approaching a speed bump.

My new RS has quite a handy feature -the lift has location memory so you can program it to automatically lift in chosen locations. There are some steep tamps down to underground parking where I have this preselected.

As others have stated; it's mainly useful for parking underground. I don't have it on my GT3 and my lip will scrape from time to time. But that's also a cheap part to replace down the line.

It's relatively easy to measure and calculate a car's angle of approach. A phone app can then be used to measure the slope of a condo's entrance. I have done this for my parents and son's condo.

I wonder why the angle of approach is not in a vehicle's specs. Too many variables?

I'd like to have it on my car and mine isn't even the lowest car out there (997.2 GTS4 with aerokit).

My car would scrape on some parking garages if i'm not careful. I also avoid some where I think I would scrape.

Lift is helpful for the multiple speed bumps in the city.

I have a new Carrera T and live in Toronto, no front axle lift on mine and no scraping issues at all. The front lip is well designed, making FAL unnecessary.The bad Toronto roads are more of a problem for your rims and suspension. I go on speed bumps all the time and again no issues, just slow down to 20 km/hr. As for underground parking I have a place on King W. and park underground there, again no issues, I am more concerned about door dings from other drivers parked next to mine.

Honestly for the Carreras even on PASM Sport it’s fine if you’re used to driving sports cars. I live downtown and have underground parking for my GTS. No issues, though I do wish I had FAL so I could lower the car ever so slightly and not have to worry about scrapes at that time… . Not a must have imo unless you aren’t used to driving sports cars downtown, want to lower the car, or are getting a GT car as they’re quite low.

Thanks @KenTO . Very useful comments. Do you need to approach speed bumps at an angle? I don't want to act like a fool everytime I pass one of these.

@mdcm17 which part of the "driving sport cars experience" do you need to avoid scraping?

Nothing too fancy. Just what’s been said in this thread. Approach at an angle for driveways and entry to parking lots, slow down for speed bumps, and just generally be mindful as our roads are horrible as you know and there can be abrupt drops / crests on the road in construction zones. As long as you’re used to that kind of stuff in downtown driving it’s very manageable.
