Potential gt3rs allocation for grab
#31
Damage control would be necessary if there was truth to that ad. The ad was false and anyone out there that was misrepresenting the dealership has been dealt with. I cannot speak to how other dealers choose to do business and conduct themselves. I am here representing Porsche Centre Oakville only. Anyone on this forum that has actually transacted with our store knows that we operate honestly and with integrity. There are no games or BS as implied in this thread. Again, I can only speak about Porsche Centre Oakville, not other stores.

I think most here know that a single purchase - albeit an expensive one - would not get anyone even close to being able to buy a GT3 RS. 2 years ago I was told by my SA that someone needed a minimum purchase history of 6 new P-cars to be considered for a GT car allocation. I suspect those wouldn't be 6 base Macans
I would assume they are mostly angry that they cannot get a car or don't understand how to get a car.
If that ad was true, it would actually be a good deal. Buy the Panamera, get the GT3RS. Sell the Panamera at a $50K loss and still be wayyyyyyy ahead.

I am not sure why Porsche allows this; it makes the brand look bad and turns the dealership network into a bunch of slimeballs.
Cars should be sold at MSRP. Guys who buy lots or actually use these cars on the track should get first grabs. (GT cars)
If I was Porsche and seen that the dealer I sell the car to, is flipping the car for $250K more than MSRP as seen with the 911 Classic, I am not sure how joyful Id feel about that.

The problem is that the MSRP in some cars is dramatically lower than market value. The way to deal with the Porsche nonsense head-on, without having customers feel that they are being used and abused with ADMs, trade raping, having to buy other cars, is by setting MSRP at the actual market price to sell the predicted number of cars, and sell the cars at that.
But they wont do that because the current charade allows them to say that that GT3RS appreciated by $100k versus MSRP and look what great investments they are, and "you should buy one!". Reality is that very few people actually pay MSRP all things considered, so apparent gains might not be gains at all until you get into the cars that are truly appreciating assets due to age and scarcity and not launch hype.
But if MSRP reflected market price to sell X number of cars, the smoke and mirrors is over and demand falls. Hopefully we get back to the good ol days when people bought great cars because they are great cars.
