To the op. Just go down to the states to by a car. How many times have I said that now?
That is actually a very good idea because there are so much more options down south and if our dollar was on Par with USA, the Porsche cars would be a steal of a deal.
I also look at Auto Trader USA just to compare our pricing there.
For example you can buy a clean and low mileage 991.1 GT3 for around $110-120K which is more like $160K plus in Canada.

Fully agreed re selection with 10X the population. Are both those figures in $CAD? In my experience prices are typically pretty close when you convert the $ and add on 6.1% import fees plus whatever other fees are involved that I forget about it, not having imported for 15+ years.

It can be a bit daunting to some people. You really gotta want it . Lol. You have to know what your doing, or you just end up wasting your time.....
This applies to cars and women!

my friend imported his wife from Russia and the Carfax was fraudulent, so was the mileage.
Joke aside, US always seem to be a good option but there is a bit of a process too. I may look at it if my business trip takes me to FL or CA, sunshine cars except for sea salt corrosion sound like a plan.

It is a process but definitely worth looking into because you can have a 3rd party help you with all the document and transport for around $1500-2000 plus shipping cost which isn't too bad. But definitely can do it yourself if you know what you are doing.
After shipping and conversion, price point is almost the same plus you have a lot more options to choose from. And bringing a USA car seems to hold better value too because you can always re sell it back to USA.
I've brought up a bunch of cars from the States, and the process is pretty straightforward. While the selection south of the border is far better, it doesn't work out so hot financially with the Canadian dollar where it is relative to the US greenback. If it's a Porsche or other non-U.S.-made vehicle the duty needs to be added as well.
I take it you have not seen The Bucket List. I always wanted a 911 since they first came out. Then some a-hole kid on his stupid cell phone runs into my stopped-in-traffic motorcycle writing it off and putting me on crutches for five months. That is all it took; should have bought my 911 sooner.
The last thing you'll say during your final moments in the hospital is, "damn, I wish I would have made that meeting".
Interesting.....what are you seeing for say a 2011 C4S, 35,000 km, 6-spd, well optioned with extra leather, sport painted hardbacks, carbon and much more.
I agree in today’s used car world. Probably would be the equivalent of a $110k car pre-Covid.
Ok, maybe you told me years ago or maybe I don't know, but I have to ask looking at your Current P Cars and Past P Cars in your signature line but are you still looking for the perfect 993 or are you flipping 993s buying low and selling high, like the stock market.
Surely one of your numerous past ultra low mileage C2S must be better than your present C2, or...?

i’m not sure why you would care what someone else does with their cars, but ok I’ll bite…I have never been looking for the ‘perfect 993”. Cars/bikes come and go with me. 2 years is a long time for me to own anything. I bought the first and second cars on my list in 2008. Sold the C2 in 2010 and the C2S in 2011. Broke even on both. Bought the C2S back in 2013 for $10k cdn more than I sold it for. Sold it in 2015 and did very well on that sale thanks to the first 993 bubble. Bought the blue C2S in early 2017, sold it in late 2017 and lost $7k. The manual was hurting my hip bursitis, so I thought I’d try a tip. Bought the arena red C2 tip in 2018 sight unseen from BC after a ppi. It was not as described. Kept it for the summer and was telling a nieghbour about the issues that weren’t disclosed (paintwork, door check strap, minor mechanical issues). They asked how much I had in it and when I told them they said they would buy it for that amount if I wanted out. I had the front brakes done on my dime and they took the car. Lost $1,500, but my neighbour was happy and I never warmed up to that car. Bought my current C2 tip in 2021 for US$59k….I have $96,000 CDN in it today without the Ruf wheels. So when I “flip it” one day, you can do the math and see the huge profit I’ll make (lucky to break even).
it is impossible to make money on imported 993’s unless you buy before the run up on a bubble. Shipping is $3,500ish, exchange at 30-40%, taxes at 13%, usually $3-$5k in maintenance, duty depending on the year. Then you sell at US market because it is a US car and take a hit on the exchange differential.
Flipping infers that someone is buying/selling for a profit. I’m usually not that lucky, but I really don’t care if I lose $5k per year on average. I enjoy the hunt and then bringing the car up to my standards. I have a 93 Fat Boy with 2,300 miles on a truck up from TX and just received a 5,200 mile 93 Moo-Glide in the fall from NJ. I’m already way over market on both bikes 😀
