Is it me or it is the worst time to buy my dream car?

I also look at Auto Trader USA just to compare our pricing there.
For example you can buy a clean and low mileage 991.1 GT3 for around $110-120K which is more like $160K plus in Canada.

That is actually a very good idea because there are so much more options down south and if our dollar was on Par with USA, the Porsche cars would be a steal of a deal.

Joke aside, US always seem to be a good option but there is a bit of a process too. I may look at it if my business trip takes me to FL or CA, sunshine cars except for sea salt corrosion sound like a plan.

my friend imported his wife from Russia and the Carfax was fraudulent, so was the mileage.

After shipping and conversion, price point is almost the same plus you have a lot more options to choose from. And bringing a USA car seems to hold better value too because you can always re sell it back to USA.

I've brought up a bunch of cars from the States, and the process is pretty straightforward. While the selection south of the border is far better, it doesn't work out so hot financially with the Canadian dollar where it is relative to the US greenback. If it's a Porsche or other non-U.S.-made vehicle the duty needs to be added as well.

I take it you have not seen The Bucket List. I always wanted a 911 since they first came out. Then some a-hole kid on his stupid cell phone runs into my stopped-in-traffic motorcycle writing it off and putting me on crutches for five months. That is all it took; should have bought my 911 sooner.

Surely one of your numerous past ultra low mileage C2S must be better than your present C2, or...?

Ok, maybe you told me years ago or maybe I don't know, but I have to ask looking at your Current P Cars and Past P Cars in your signature line but are you still looking for the perfect 993 or are you flipping 993s buying low and selling high, like the stock market.

it is impossible to make money on imported 993’s unless you buy before the run up on a bubble. Shipping is $3,500ish, exchange at 30-40%, taxes at 13%, usually $3-$5k in maintenance, duty depending on the year. Then you sell at US market because it is a US car and take a hit on the exchange differential.
Flipping infers that someone is buying/selling for a profit. I’m usually not that lucky, but I really don’t care if I lose $5k per year on average. I enjoy the hunt and then bringing the car up to my standards. I have a 93 Fat Boy with 2,300 miles on a truck up from TX and just received a 5,200 mile 93 Moo-Glide in the fall from NJ. I’m already way over market on both bikes 😀

Just in case you are keeping track of my other cars too…bought the 67 Camaro for US$45k in 2020, sold it for US$55k in 2022…lost $8,000 Cdn.
